Re: COSC Report 2011
It will be interesting to compare the 2012 report when it is released. :) Any ideia when that might be? And am i the only one that think that Tag's number might be off? Only 559 COSC watches in a year? Also no IWC or JLC on the list, i realy thought that they were certified... Anyone got a source f...

Re: Toughness of Autos vs Quartz
The testing undertaken by Bremont during the birth of the MB2 showed that: - Autos are less vulnerable to shock when fully wound and more vulnerable as they the springs become unwound - Screw-down crowns transmit shock and vibration into the movement - Vibration is the real killer, and the reason wh...

I agree with Downer.downer wrote:I think CW offer great value for money, and the quality of a £400 CW watch is equal to a £800-1000 high street watch.
However, I cannot agree that the quality is at the same level as Omega.

Re: How many watches do you take on holiday?
Tends to be two, one of the decent watches and a g-shock for when I'm playing in the sand with the kids. Either of the Bremonts I have or IWC will fit the decent watch category.

Re: 30th birthday watch: Grand Seiko (Long post)
A lovely watch, I'd love one but the only concern I have is how they'd wear as most watch I wear now are at least 41mm.

Re: Pick your British & Irish Lions squad
Hiwelh lad, Fodden picked because he can play and unlucky to not be in team for England....maybe some "personal issues there? Goode is good, and it's not his fault England have not been playing a game that suits an attacking fullback....which they all should be, and why I think halfpenny is th...

Re: Pick your British & Irish Lions squad
I can't agree with the scrum halves, how can you have both Youngs and Care in there? Laidlaw is a better rugby player and offers more than Care personally. I also think that there's an outside bet for Hines being included, and Maitland offers more than North who will be found out quickly. I did hav...

Re: Good experiences with British brands?
Whilst the information pertaining to the Smiths movement is held within the website, it's not exactly obvious to most people that the movements don't belong to Loomes. I think it is, at least if they read it. Not sure how it could be made more obvious, really. If I was going to spend 4 grand on a w...

Indeed, very distinctive; although to be fair to Schofield, they're straps are made here aren't they?Andyshall wrote:Again, quite expensive, and not entirely British, but Schofield watches are very nice and have some British links.

Re: Good experiences with British brands?
(Loomes stating that the watch is entirely made in England isn't wholly correct given that didn't make the Smiths movement, he merely refurbed them). I've always been led to believe the Smiths 12.15 movements were made in England. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Oh they were, just not by Loomes. If...

Re: Good experiences with British brands?
I think Kemmner used to make the Timefactors watches I can't recall who does them now. Same applies for Precista. I thought all the current models that Eddie uses the trademarks he's acquired are made by Kemmner? Having a look at the recent Kemmner brands like the turtle, I feel that Kemmner provid...

Re: "Grail & Beater" or "Nice Collection"?
So, AVO, have you decided on the way forward? Not really, no. I'm somewhere near Kip's suggestion, though. I've been looking again at the SOTC and there's a lot of stuff (most of it) that I want to keep. We'll see, but I don't anticipate a massive sales drive in the immediate future. I went through...
