Re: Stefs march 2020

A great collection, Paul. Some real crackers there. It sounds from your comments that the 39mm Explorer may be vulnerable to a flip. I used to have one too, but eventually replaced it (via buying a drum kit in the meantime!) with the 36mm version and I have to say I am much, much happier with the sm...

Re: A grand seiko I actually like!

That's a beauty, Paul. But I'd have to check how it glinted with sunlight or other direct light on it. That could possibly change the appearance significantly, maybe for the better, but possibly detrimentally too. It still takes a lot to beat the Snowflake though - even though I sold mine earlier th...

Very nice (although the opposite of what I like to do with my watches). However, you seem to have lost something during the process! :)

Re: Covid 19 Lock down - UK Ambiguities?

If you can work entirely from home then why not continue doing so? And Jon's suggestion for a collection delivery service sounds excellent. If your Post Office is walkable, why not include it in your daily permitted walk/exercise? Or just do one or two dispatches per week to limit trips to the PO - ...

Oh, sorry, moderators, please could you move my new topic to the off topic section.
I thought it would appear there, as I intended, but I was mistaken. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Sorted!

Re: Coronavirus Weekly Check-In Thread - March 21

Good idea for a thread, Chris. I started working from home last Wednesday. Unfortunately, for the next week or so we are trying to protect VPN capacity during the day, so I kind of now need to work a night shift from 6pm. However, people also expect me to answer emails on my iPad during the day, so ...

Re: Musings on a Rolex Sub 14060

I'll stick with my 14060 from 1999 with full papers, originally purchased in the month I met my wife. It took me a while to really gel with the Sub but now I feel it knocks all other black dive watches into a cocked hat. :) https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200308/b5edacaeea51fd114e268e18eda69d10.j...

Jos, what do you think? Is it the biggest bargain in watchmaking in your view? You must have an opinion on the matter for you to have posted the video.

Re: Can A cell phone magnetized a watch?

It's definitely possible, especially if the phone is in a case with a magnetic clasp or sensor. Same for iPads.

I think just being nearby is ok. It's when a watch is laid on a phone or iPad that the risk is higher.
