Re: Pilot watches

The new golden snitch in my collection: The Longines Lindbergh Hour Angle replica from 1987, 60th anniversary of Lindbergh's Atlantic crossing. This one is only 38 mm in diameter - tiny for a pilot watch - with the Longines L628 caliber (ETA 2892). My budget simply does not afford the "real" 47 mm r...

Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread

This is the Longines Lindbergh Hour Angle in a replica form sold 2006. It has a tremedous 47mm diameter, resembling the original from 1931 built around a pocket watch caliber, hence the size. This one now contains the Longines L699.2 caliber, has the hunter-lid at the back to show its beauty, but un...

Re: Pilot watches

This is quite an interesting Longines to me.
Do you have a bit more information about its name and type, to I can start looking for it?

A selection of Aviators, from my collection. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201016/70c9951cc93c5d8caa9054fe2e68fe5b.jpg Hello Bahnstormer, I am particularly keen on this orange wristband for my new Glycine Airman as well. Would match perfect and give it the right push of attention, as mine is i...

Re: The Pocket Watch Gallery

Thanks both H0rati0 and JAFO. Yes, my watchmaker tried to sketch some spring-device on paper for me that is around the balance wheel to protect it from shock. However, I cannot make it out in the movement as I opened it up yesterday. And obviously it is not working as it should. I fear H0rati0 is ri...

Re: The Pocket Watch Gallery

claimed as the first watch with "shock absorbtion" whatever that means! I guess what it means. Have acquired this beauty of a Longines Chronograph recently for quite a few Euros. Everytime I wear it on the chain in my trouser pocket, it stops - forever. The balance wheel gets thrown out of its bear...

A brand unknown to me previously, but discovered in this forum yesterday.
I instantly fell in love with this version of the Glycine Airman.

Re: Pilot watches

A pilot watch is pretty much a functional watch, a bit like an instrument on the instument panel. Hence they are well readable with large (Arabic) numbers, black or white high contrast dial face, luminescent hands and numbers to be readable at night. A today's pilot watch also has a turnable bezel (...
