Re: I’ve come to a cross road with CW

I don't think you really need to celebrate or mark a particular birthday with something just because. I would just wait until something really does catch your eye, and then strike. It might even be a CW. :D

Re: Sort-of torn… Opinions please!

I think that looks fine.

I doubt you can adjust the bracelet and wear the watch, and then decide to send it back under the 60/60, anyway.

Re: Price increases in CW service dept.

Yes, pressure testing with divers, replacing gaskets and so on adds time and expense. The chap I mentioned just takes the back off, and replaces the battery. I imagine if the gasket ring is perished he will change that, but a lot of what he does is change batteries on sekondas and so on for £3.95 a ...

Re: Price increases in CW service dept.

I don't see what's difficult about a simple battery change, unless it includes some service work. £20 sounds quite dear to me. I actually use a chap who stands on my local market. He typically changes max £5.00 for batteries, and otherwise changes straps and so on. Rapid while you wait service, and ...

Re: The Bargain Hunters Thread

@Fat-Sam
That's plus 20% VAT in the UK, isn't it? Is £10k really a crazy low price? Or even £8.5k, if somehow there's no VAT involved?

Re: "Hand distressed" Ombre Dial

There's a difference in my mind between coloration patina caused by UV damage, or the spider dial (which I think is dumb but to each their own), and the ombre applied on CW watches where it looks like scratches. Anyway, it's not a hill I'm here to die on but I am always disappointed when I see a co...

I think that's attractive. You could wear that without being a Mountie. The red highlights in this case don't imply an affiliation as strongly as some of the military editions. :D

Re: Problem with my C63 - is this covered by 60/60?

I expected this watch to be transformative Andrew, I think the problem (such as it is) is really quite simple. The watch wasn't sufficiently expensive. Now, had you spent, let's say $10,000 on a new watch, it would have changed your like in so many ways. Or at least having spent that amount you wou...

Re: Problem with my C63 - is this covered by 60/60?

So I’ve had the C63 for a few weeks now, and I absolutely love it. While it’s functioning perfectly well within spec and is everything I hoped it would be, there’s one thing I am concerned about. Um…my life seems to be relatively unchanged from before I had this watch?! I expected this watch to be ...

Re: The Non-Curmudgeons Corner

:) Haven’t had a holiday abroad since 2012. In fact, 2022 is the first year where we actually had two whole weeks away, rather than just one! Various things have contributed to this. * Wife not too fussed about hot places, so staycation is her preferred option. * kids school/college commitments not ...

I must have been lucky because I've never had a problem with workhorse movements like Sellita and Valjoux. Clean living, that's the thing. :D

@asqwerth. Maybe it wasn't an internal watch problem,. Maybe the crown was just unscrewing from the stem.

Re: Is the Sellita SW200 a good movement?

It's not just the movement anyway. It's swiss made, not just swiss movement. Maybe I'm a sucker for those 2 words, but I place a lot of credence in "swiss made", and with CW you're not even paying over the top. People often say that brands that ask £2500 or more for a SW200 or a 2824 are g...

Re: New Trident 300 Bracelet is impossible to adjust

Firstly it has the ridiculous double-screw system meaning you have to somehow hold a driver in one slot while supporting the bracelet and turning the other screw with another driver. There isn't a worse system IMO. Secondly, the screws are jammed in so tight that they won't come apart. Sorry but I ...
