Re: Lack of "Xmas" lights to smash!
Surely anticipation is part of the Christmas experience ... along with bad jokes!
Re: Scams?
Clearly the above is a scam - who would go to all that bother without physically seeing the item? I must say that possibly the only downside of being retired is the constant stream of scam phone calls received during the day. Most of them are so transparent that I can't believe that people fall for ...

Re: HELP! Stripped torx screw
Given how inset the screw heads are I think that cutting a slot (the obvious first try) will be difficult. My suggestions: 1) get a cheap screwdriver (with a hardened tip) and use it with a hammer to make a slot which you can screw out 2) drill off the top of the heads, lift off the fixing and eithe...

Re: Other people’s perceptions
It's a strange one isn't it? Some people seem to think that their own lifestyle is beyond reproach, while what other people spend is ridiculous extravagance. I once worked with a trainee in our office who constantly moaned that everyone was paid more than her (true). She went onto a long diatribe on...

Re: A behavioural science experiment
I once went for several years without wearing a watch, to the extent that it was my "normal". I didn't have any strong feelings, but I became VERY good at knowing what time it was. As I cycled to work and worked in an office with flexi-time, I didn't really need particularly accurate timek...

Re: Brick and Mortar!
The shop gets some interesting stock, and you get an outlet. And people browsing (and hopefully buying) get something different and interesting to look at. Sounds like a "win-win".

Re: Jokes to cheer us up
As it's Halloween ... A lone traveler is walking through the dark wood when he comes across a clearing. Three witches ate stirring a bubbling cauldron and chanting. Three witches: "Hubble bubble, boil and toil" Nervously, the traveler approaches the trio First witch: "Yes, we can"...

Re: My least favourite weekend of the year
When I was working, I used to love this weekend as the "extra hour in bed" felt like luxury. And later as a self-employed gardener, it marked the end of the season. Now that I'm retired I can have an extra hour in bed whenever I feel like it. Watches? Well my G-Shock adjusts automatically ...

Re: What Car do you drive??
It's bloody hard work now I'm so old. I get what you're saying about black cars - my first job was cleaning vehicles at Coleman Milne prior to delivery to the customer (if you've ever been to a funeral in the U.K. then you will probably have seen their products). Although of course I was much young...

Re: The JOMW Watch. Erebus Origin.
This watch would not have been given a second look had it not been Jody’s. That's probably true, but doesn't that comment apply to many new watches? It's the "back story" that many people buy in to isn't it? That may be heritage/brand history that means something or even an event - how ma...

Re: The JOMW Watch. Erebus Origin.
^^^ I thought Jody said he was using DHL for international shipments, so they will be collecting duty + their handling fee.
And the watch? I quite like it. I probably won't be a customer, but it seems to be a solid effort for a first attempt.

Re: This could have been so much worse...
Well, of all the places for your fine watch to fall off your wrist, the table you are sat at could only be bettered if it had a tablecloth.
As you say - it could have been MUCH worse.
Hope it's soon sorted. I imagine the next time you wear it will involve a lot or "wrist checks" though.
