Re: The Wonderful World of English

Bread roll is a Barmcake where I come from, my wife (Manchester) calls it a muffin. Our local shops do sell "oven bottom muffins", which are larger than a barmcake, but that might just be the maker. When I go on holiday to Devon, they are Baps. Scone? my mother said it one way, her mother ...

Re: New Atoll Special Edition

As is often the case, the thread has developed some interesting twists and turns. I'll openly admit to knowing next to nothing about Kickstarter but if the procedure is that you pledge on the 2nd and receive the item you've "supported" by the middle of the same month then perhaps I'm missi...

I have never received an email from CW, and I doubt that I ever will.

Re: How do you get dust off your watch

If the watch is water resistant, then a quick wash with a soft toothbrush and gentle soap (Pears transparent, if I can use it on my face, it's safe enough) . If not water resistant, then a shaving brush (again, natural bristle and use it dry) is very good for delicate items.

Re: Wimbledon 2022 Thread

I don't pay my BBC tv licence to have both BBC 1 and BBC 2 full of f***ing tennis all day every day for the next 2 weeks. It should be shown on some obscure channel for all the saddos who want to watch 2 people or 4 if it's doubles hitting a ball over a net for hours on end I was about to head over...

Re: What would make CW Great?

t’s bonkers to me how much access this forum has to the CEO of a rapidly growing company I think that is part of what helped build the brand? Reading the forum must be great for CW, I would expect that someone from the company has a glance through every working day - some companies spend an absolut...

Re: Christopher Ward becomes Everton's Official Global Timing Partner

Some of that falls on CW doesn't it? I mean you see the Rolex crown all over sporting events and everyone knows what that means because of the work Rolex put in to make it that way. I see this as only a single piece in the overall picture and not the sole solution. I agree. When you see the Rolex c...

Re: C65 Aquitaine GMT second hand scuffs, opinion?

If your question is "would a minor fault visible with a magnifier in certain light bother you?", then my answer would be "no". But is my opinion relevant? No, not at all. The only important question is, does it bother you? And I get the impression that it does. Democracy is appro...

Re: Christopher Ward becomes Everton's Official Global Timing Partner

^^^ Sponsorship is just another form of advertising isn't it? Although with a perks for the sponsor, which I'm sure MF will enjoy. It's just my opinion, but I can't help but feel that CW should include the word "watches" or similar in their branding for the sponsorship as the "twin fl...

Re: Christopher Ward becomes Everton's Official Global Timing Partner

The Everton crest will look very smart on a CW watch That could be a new twist on the "logo debate" As another person with no interest in watching men in shorts, I was still surprised to hear Everton F.C. described as "giants". I must try to get out less ... On a more seri...

Re: The Curmudgeons Corner

We recently had a parcel of food due to be delivered by Yodel. My wife got an e-mail to say delivery between 4-6pm. No sign of it at 6, so that's plan B for our tea (fortunately our local chippy does deliveries). Finally an e-mail to say ... delivered to your safe place, front porch. Curious as we d...

Re: Your thoughts on history class

1. Did you like history classes when in school? Or maybe some but not others? Yes I did, had to drop it as history clashed with a subject I wanted to take. Bit of a disappointment to both myself and the history teacher - the top 5 people in her class were taking other subjects. 2. Whether yes or no,...
