Old Magazine Ads

I have a stack of old National Geographics that landed in my lap and while flipping through there is a lot of interesting advertising. Not only watches but ads of all types. I'll start this one out with ads from April 1951. It is clear that rail was the #1 mode of long distance transportation at thi...

Re: New Atoll Special Edition

Nice watch, personally never bought a watch that isn’t COSC or similar, how accurately do these normally run? don’t really like that it could be +\- 20 seconds per day Per the specs for a Sellita SW200 - On average +-12 s/d Isochronism +-20 s/d Measured over two positions - horizontal dial up and v...

Re: New Atoll Special Edition

I really like the looks of this one. I think to the casual observer it would be too close to my Super Compressor. Not sure I could get this one past the accountant. :problem:

Re: 36mm Sealander - Speculations?

Is it possible we might see the C63 GMT in 36mm? Would that be too crowded a dial to read with a GMT hand squeezed in? I have no reference point for this. If they can do it at 38 (the older MKIII C60 GMTs) then I think it is at least technically possible. The SW330-2 is 25.6 mm across. I have seen ...

Re: How do you get dust off your watch

Blimey. I just blow on mine and wipe them on my T-shirt. For good macro shots when selling a watch you might want to up your game  My dust reattaches itself regardless of what I do to remove it... I’m appalled by my pics, even more so now that my phone camera has a macro function, and more so ...

Re: How do you get dust off your watch

I use a Cape Cod detail brush to get into the nooks and crannies. Then a photographers blower is essential. The same kind of thing you use to get dust off of a lens. Like The Rocket

Re: C60 Elite Rubber Strap Advice ?

If it’s 20mm get on the Tribus site now. They’re selling their superb rubber straps for £30 which is madness. https://tribus-watches.com/collections/straps The Elite is 22mm and the OP is interested in fitted end straps which currently don't exist. I tried the Vanguard straps from Watch Gecko on my...

Re: C60 Elite Rubber Strap Advice ?

There aren't any out there that will take the bracelet clasp. There is a company that is in the process of making fitted rubber straps for the C60 but they are buckle and tang. They are sanctioned by CW and I believe got some help with tolerances etc. I don't know if they are planning on making a cl...

That is an amazing image Andrew. Taken with compassion and respect. I hope that when the time comes his passing is peaceful and without incident. I will be thinking of them and you up here in NH.

Re: C65 Aquitaine GMT second hand scuffs, opinion?

Like I said, it wouldn't bother me. Seems like something that you can only see if you squint, go 45 degrees off angle from the sun on a full moon etc. I am being intentionally over the top here. In all seriousness, as another poster stated it bothered you enough to post about it so there must be a l...

Re: Christopher Ward becomes Everton's Official Global Timing Partner

Some of that falls on CW doesn't it? I mean you see the Rolex crown all over sporting events and everyone knows what that means because of the work Rolex put in to make it that way. I see this as only a single piece in the overall picture and not the sole solution.

Re: C65 Aquitaine GMT second hand scuffs, opinion?

^^ ^^ Completely agree with you. I’m typing on a MacBook, it cost me €1500 to buy. It was made in China for probably around $100 dollars. That’s just called modern mass manufacturing. Oh…and profiteering. Des Sorry but this is just completely wrong. The componentry alone in a Macbook is well over $...
