Re: The Golf Topic

Well, the ProV1 has only been around since 2000 or so. You can generally tell what year they are by what is printed on the side. All of the modern ones have text inside a couple of arrows.

This is the current look:

Re: FLE 2023 Design Process

Can we post questions here about the process? Yes, you can. They may not be answered as the design group have agreed there are some things we won’t go into, mainly about the rejected design . But feel free to ask. :) Regarding the emphasized text, understood! That makes total sense. I’ll start with...

Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread

With the 2023 Forum LE on the horizon this one will probably stay in the day dream column for some time. The moon phase talk in another thread got me thinking about this one again though. So many good looking models from Longines are overlooked. https://www.longines.com/media/catalog/product/cache/8...

Re: Hand winding

Hold the watch dial up but at a 45 degree angle away from you. Just so that the dial isn't straight up and down or entirely flat. Give it a wind. It will be okay to apply a little force. If you feel the rotor spin like a mad man then you having a reversing wheel problem (called spinning rotor syndro...

Re: Best way to start a collection

Yeah... I was worried there might be a step 5! I see the Super Compressor in your list there - I really like that watch too - you happy with it? Love the Super Compressor. CW hit a homerun with that one. Wears really well and looks great on almost any strap. I also like the fact that it is a ...

Re: Certina DS-2 .... another great GADA

Here are two posts from someone who has the original watches. https://www.christopherwardforum.com/other-brands/topic59043.html https://www.christopherwardforum.com/other-brands/topic59048.html I'm thinking that the Dartmouth MkII could be it for the Aquitaine field watch. So the the teaser sketche...

Re: Rolex....pre owned

It's just my personal opinion but I think Rolex will mandate a pricing structure for their pre-owned watches that is lower than the current crazy grey market prices. Each watch by year will have a range that can be charged depending on condition. Similar to CPO cars or certified coins. As the syste...

Re: Best way to start a collection

All I can say is CWs in a collection procreate like rabbits. I bought my first one and looked down and my signature and there is 5 (soon to be 6). There are soooo many good ones!

Your outline seems sound to me except for step 5: Start saving for step 2 and 3 again.

Re: Hand winding

First some general info: You can't overwind an automatic. There is usually very little difference between the resistance felt when winding from 0 reserve to when it is topped up. Automatics are designed so that the mainspring slips when it is fully wound. You can sometimes hear and feel the click. M...

Re: Rolex....pre owned

I've been thinking about this since the launch and can't figure out what Rolex itself is getting out of this. If Rolex are funding it can’t they take a cut of the profits? AD’s having to pay Rolex service centre for the work carried out as well? I would bet they do but at a very reduced rate. Proba...
