Re: Old habits die hard, but it is possible to break the cycle

This brings up an issue that's become something of a marketplace plague in recent times. For the last dozen years or so it's been a significant part of the HiFi business in which I have no small experience. And now with watches. It's about taking the specialness out of special and turning it into a ...

Re: Formex reef

I have an Essence 39 - wearing it right now as a mater of a fact - and it's great. Whether Essence or Reef, they are relatively thin and wear really well. The bracelet fit works out for me as it turns out, but the Reef has a better arrangement. On overall quality for the price, I think the Formex pi...

Re: Advice on saving for a big purchase

Some interesting observations here. My cheeky side says if it is an OP that you have your sights on, then put your name down at an AD and you will have plenty of time to both consider and save. PLENTY. From my own experience, the idea of the Big Purchase and what that means is really the guts of it....

Re: Are all watch fans knowledgeable?

We are enthusiasts here and our perspective is different than the world at large. What we want a watch to be, and matters to us, is a different thing than somebody who just wants "something nice" and knows little of what that might be about. I'm a little surprised when someone actually not...

Re: Sad news with a happy development

Condolences Andrew and my thoughts with your family.
Lovely to hear the family together and enjoying stories. When folks are remembered they are still with us. And with something extra-ordinary like that happening, a memory to cherish that you will forever associate with him.

Re: Are we nerds?

From me an admission of being nerdy by nature. That means once I go down a path I want to see where it leads. And to reach a useful destination, all the ins and outs need to be explored and that's what makes the path interesting. At least on a forum of like-minded souls it is not as necessary to be ...

And a belated Happy Birthday from t'other side of the planet. Life's been too busy....for life. So glad to hear it was a really fine day for you! All that said: the contribution you have made in building this virtual place and the team built to maintain it is SO well appreciated. I don't get to spen...

Re: How often do you look at your movements?

When I saw the title I was rather apprehensive about opening the thread. I thought that I may have wandered into a specialist interest forum on the dark recesses of the internet! Neil Yes, well this may be "Offtopic" but perhaps not quite that far... You did make me laugh ou...

Re: suicidal_orange SOTC April 2022

Interesting collection but it's The Journey that is the real story here and the way that story has been told. Awesome.
I'm a bit late-on looking and commenting but so glad I did.

Re: Stefs SOTC may 22

I must say I never considered a "smart watch" could have so much going for it if that set of functions is useful to you. Not for me but I absolutely get it. The mechanicals do make a very interesting tight mix. A very different style of collection and all power to you! Just great you share...

Very interesting mix of variety and specialisation (the C9 focus) the likes of which I've not seen elsewhere.
Really enjoyed seeing this, thanks so much for sharing!

How often do you look at your movements?

And I guess, does it depend on which ones? For me it's very rarely and not for very long. I just enjoy that they are there and what they are doing, these wondrous micro-mechanical engines. Perhaps it's that none of mine are particularly spectacular, hand-finished or whatever. I do wonder if somethin...

Re: Has the name of a watch ever convinced you to buy??

the wording above 25 jewels looks like it has been piped by an apprentice pastry chef. ....and now I can't un-see that! :problem: To answer the posed question though, I don't think so as such but gosh I do like just saying the brand name of my Direnzo with suitable Italian accent (I work with a num...
