Re: The Bargain Hunters Thread

Sorry, my poor old eyes, it was so small I didn't see it...assumed it was the date or something like that. I should stick to playing Doom.

Re: Should I buy a watch winder ?

I have one dual; winder. I have only a need to ever keep 2 automatics wound, the others I am happy to let run down and rest when I'm not planning on wearing them for a while..usually the winders only got 1 watch in it at most as the one I am wearing doesn't need to go into the winder at night. I sim...

Re: Would you buy a plug in electric car?

@davecUK - would you say that an early i3 with RX is a bit like, to drive, having a regular hybrid car? Mind you, I'm not so keen on the gawky, tall body and skinny tyres. Guy Sent from my Xperia XZ Premium using Tapatalk I never answered this....I think the REX s the actual huge lost opportunity f...

Re: Forum Names

I chose Bident, the two pronged fork wielded by Hades. It also happens that I am an identical twin, so I thought Bident captured that in a way. Well My first name is David, my second name begins with a C and I'm in the UK....so DavecUK . It's also the same name I use online everywhere else. I'm not...

Re: The Bargain Hunters Thread

A good deal at TK Maxx for a Valjoux 7750 chronometer movement chronograph. If you like the styling. Well actually seems cheap as chips for that grade movement.

Is this based on anything other than assumption?
No, why would you think otherwise?

Re: A Lasting Legacy - Important News from Christopher Ward

As to logo changes, I suspect there may be no changes in the wind; wasn’t Mike France one of the main proponents behind the current logo? I expect Mike felt MF might not look good on the watch face. I think with new money injected that a company name change is inevitable once the existing stock has...

Re: A Lasting Legacy - Important News from Christopher Ward

I wish Chris well and change is a fact of life for any successful business. I am curious to know whether they will keep the CW name.

Re: Do I want an Omega?

That Omega is a nice looking watch....I like it even better for the little bear on the end of the second hand. Like a tiny "Easter egg" just for the owner.

Re: Recommendations required please.......

In clarification, the artificial price inflation of Rolex watches slumped (like the housing market can) and things go back to how they used to be, even Rolex would not meet that criteria. I would never "invest" in watches and it's quite likely the cost of Rolex could go down rather than up e.g. have...

I don't think a watch like that it exists, excepts for possibly unique pieces.

Re: The Bargain Hunters Thread

https://www.birthyearwatches.com/product/2019-new-rado-hyperchrome/ Haven't been looking too much but cw/jura had the Certina Powermatic 80 DS PH200M for £312, over now though. And first class watches had priced a certina ds action diver wrong, but was corrected within a day. Not much help there I ...

Re: Service cost and what is involved in a CW service

Although £150 might seem like a bit of a bargain for the amount of work involved in a full strip, clean, inspect and rebuild, servicing of these movements generally only makes financial sense if you do it yourself. NB: Punters price for a SW200-1 is around £150, much less for a manufacturer or watc...
