Re: Inerview with a watchmaker
I found this Teddy Baldassarre Youtube interview with a watchmaker to be interesting. Well worth a few minutes of your time. He covers in-house versus ETA/Selitta movements, watch winders, pressure testing, standard vs. modular movements and more. https://youtu.be/n2bd-Y-bfXQ Neat, thank you for th...

Re: Movement accuracy
1. I have never worried about seconds per 24 hours accuracy in any watch I've owned past or present. It's all in the look for me and I like to see the word Chronometer on any dial. 2. On cheap movements compared to less-cheap movements it might be interesting - if you ever cared about such matters ...

Re: Movement accuracy
I have no personal experience of San Martin watches, but they seem to be decent for the price as long as you like a "homage". Clearly many people do, But I've never seen that they (or any reviewers) claim that they are regulated. So the basic argument is spurious. The NH35 IS a good movem...

Re: Movement accuracy
Ive just purchased a San Martin dive watch which is a homage to the Seiko 62mas. For a £130 watch its stunning. Well built, nicely polished and brushed case, domed sapphire glass, ceramic bezel that actually lines up, great case back and superb lume. The watch has the Seiko n35a movement and its be...

Re: C60 Trident MK4 ?
Well, the only significant upgrade would be a co-axial escapement, surely? Or are they going to slow the beat rate and chuck a load of plastic parts at it to get a bigger power reserve? Not knocking Selitta by the way. I have them in a few watches and they have been faultless. If it ain´t broke.......

Re: C60 Trident MK4 ?
Not until 2023 or later. Listening between the lines in some interviews with Mike France, it seems that CW is waiting for a pretty substantial movement upgrade cycle from Selitta to bear fruit. ALLEGEDLY, Selitta has some new generation movements coming in the next few years. Sent from my SM-G973U1 ...

Re: The Alliance of British Watch & Clock Makers
Thanks Mark, I can't see 8000 watches per year justify buying a single six-axis CNC machine (again, I don't know how many they have bought). I suspect they would be providing machining services to outside customers. A previous company I worked for has in-house CNC machines for our own products but ...

Re: The Alliance of British Watch & Clock Makers
1) How having your stuff made in China/Switzerland or anywhere outside the UK leads to setting up as a "British Watch & Clock Maker". 2) Why, as an "Alliance of British Watch & Clock Makers" you would choose to decorate the home page of your website with a "Swiss Ma...

China, probably a manufacturer around Hong Kong. As do many Swiss, Japanese, and American brands [emoji28]

Re: The Alliance of British Watch & Clock Makers
Am I the only person who find's CW's involvement to be a little bizarre? Matched only by the Alliance choosing to illustrate their website with a CW watch (at least the "Swiss made" text was carefully excluded from the photo). I'm not knocking CW in any way, I really like their watches, b...

Re: The Alliance of British Watch & Clock Makers
In one if the comments underneath the Hodinkee feature, it says that CW manufacture in China so this "British Alliance" is a bit rich. Is the China bit accurate? Bremont would seem a good fit for the alliance as well. [emoji849][emoji849][emoji849][emoji849][emoji849] You do realize plent...

Re: C65 Super Compressor - Deep Blue
...and will be able to stop looking at stupid price Omega/Rolex with decent blue dials. Have you seen the new Tudor Black Bay in blue? It’s beautiful, and a far more reasonable price compared to an Omega or Rolex. I was disappointed initially with these as I felt the white internal bezel was too pr...
