Re: Are import duties still an issue?

I'm still gun shy buying anything above $800 until someone can tell me exactly what my taxes are going to be - from what I can tell the HTS in the US for a 17 jewel or higher stainless steel automatic is code 9102.29.55 - which is tax at $1.55 + 4.2% on the case and 9.8% on the band/bracelet. So if...

Re: Are import duties still an issue?

Glad they are at least making the effort to smooth things over. Today's update: my paperwork has been forwarded and us under review. Looks like I wouldn't get my trident in time for the weekend...

Re: Are import duties still an issue?

When I ordered my new Mk3 on 1 May, I used the DHL app to track the progress of my watch across the Atlantic. When the package hit Customs at JFK airport, the app simply popped up a “pay this amount” line, for $140.70 USD. When I paid that amount via credit card on the DHL app, the package moved th...

Having dealt with DHL/customs many times, you can fill out the form as follows and it will be sufficient.

Re: Are import duties still an issue?

Now I am really interested in looking in the tariff book when I get back to work . That whole sheet seems ridiculous. Price paid for the item straight off the invoice should be all that is needed. As for the value of the strap and case leave them blank and just use the invoice total for the watch. ...

Re: Are import duties still an issue?

OP. OK. Don’t use the $100 discount and pay $100 more, your call. Taxes/duties/fees are a way of life. Live with it or buy from a brand within the US. CW is still great value even with the charges. If you don’t wanna pay up, buy a cheaper watch. I did use the voucher. You may want to read...

Re: Are import duties still an issue?

Well I just got my watch today, USA. I was charged $119.00 by DHL The bummer is I am not going to keep the watch. I got the new Trident 600 Pro, I am a little bummed. Unfortunately it wears way too big. With the size of the dial and bezel, it actually looks as big as the 44.5 MAKO XL I am trying to...

Re: Are import duties still an issue?

For those saying I'm already getting a "discount" by not paying VAT: That is not true. VAT is taxes paid to YOUR government for public services that benefit you. I shouldn't have to pay that because I'm not being benefited by that in any way For those saying I'm already getting the voucher code disc...

Re: Are import duties still an issue?

DHL wants me to pay $109 import duties..that's 13% of the watch price! The duty rate is only about 3 to 4% so probably under $30 for a $850 watch. The DHL fees are the rest of the total charge. There is no sales tax that needs to be paid. i see the receipt online, it says that import duties are 11%...
