Re: BBC radio 4 - Dr. Rebecca Struthers

Funnily enough I was going to write a post about this today. I thoroughly enjoyed the presentation she gave on-line last night (posted earlier in the month). A fascinating subject made all the more interesting when presented by such a knowledgable and engaging person. The plug of her book led me to ...

Re: The Spring Itch...or not?

I've mentioned this before: Spring seems to be a popular season for watch hunting. The lengthening days, the gradual warming, the promise of Summer on the horizon, all seem to fuel the urge. I have been intrigued to see many of my fellow forumites' pulses quickening once more at the sight of a rain...

Re: Exciting future for Bremont

I agree, From what many forumites say, they are excellent watches but I can't help thinking that they are just priced too high.

Exciting future for Bremont

I saw this interesting article on the Hodinkee website about Bremont. https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/bremont-names-industry-vet-davide-cerrato-as-new-ceo It looks like they have got a serious injection of Private finance and a new CEO! Exciting times ahead for the brand especially as he is the ma...

Re: The “Where’s My Watch?” Game

In the meantime, when I set out yesterday morning I'd intended to go to some RHS Gardens, but circumstances prevailed and I ended up on the coast at a well known seaside town. Where's my watch? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230422/7aaf10959df9b6e21e23ec4f5750d811.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-c...

Re: Webinar: A Watchmaker's History of Time

British watchmaker, the first to gain a PHD in Horology, Dr. Rebecca Struthers, will speak at Fellows Auctioneers on May 10. Her new book “Hands of Time” promises a wealth of historical horological capers (well, maybe not capers, but stories nevertheless) including a Chapter on early fakes dating b...

Re: Why all the negativity towards CW?

I’m baffled why CW attracts such polarising responses compared to many other brands :?: I see praise for various Swiss brands (Tissot, Mido, Longines) and German greats (Sinn, Damasko). None attract numerous negative comments from people who don’t find these brands to their tastes, yet CW does. Why...

Re: Why all the negativity towards CW?

I found this bit of the thread especially funny “There isn't anything C.W. offers that even attempts to catch my interest. I've always thought of them as a "Yuppie" watch. Don't mean to offend those of you that have them. I picture their typical customer having a man bun, riding their bicy...

Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread

That question sparked my interest as well. Only assuming that listing something other than a Rolex as your dream watch would be frowned upon. Also curious as to what size you are going for? If I’m not mistaken the Explorer is now being offered in both 36 and 40mm sizes. I am after the 36mm. T...
