Re: Super compressor alignment

Only the full front pic of the blue SC apparently.
Maybe they're already using corrected dials for those.

Re: GMT hand alignment allowable tolerance

And another way of looking at it is if there are known issues with this movement then it shouldn't be used for a gmt watch... Well.... then we're all out of alternatives... I don't know of any other readily available GMT movements. And in fact, the Rolex 3185 also has a significant slack in the tim...

Re: GMT hand alignment allowable tolerance

Having the hands aligned is hardly a tolerance issue. They are either aligned or not. It is simply pass or fail. I really is not so black&white. The 2893 is known to have some alignment issues with the GMT hand. There's a significant slack in the general time setting mechanism of these movements, y...

Re: MOD endorsement of the Military Series.

Thanks for all the replies. It's perfectly clear now. Frankly, I bought the Dartmouth for it's specific design aspects, as the most attractive (to me) iteration of the C65 diver. Certainly not for Royal Navy factor. And yes, I much prefer the normal spring bars. Fixed would only make sense on a vint...

Re: MOD endorsement of the Military Series.

Thanks for the reply.

So it's just a license to use the names and images, no specific criteria or specifications to comply with, as they are just for the civilian market.

Interesting... I wonder what the MOD gets out of the licensing agreement...

It is no more technically relevant than the helium escape valve on my Seamaster. Completely unnecessary, but intended to help sell watches.
I think this summarizes it perfectly.
Still surprising that they didn't go for 200m WR.

MOD endorsement of the Military Series.

As a recent owner of a Dartmouth I'm just curious here: What’s the scope of the MOD endorsement of the Military series ? Are any of these watches actually issued to the MOD ? Or is it just a nod to use the badges on the back by being compliant to some specs ? One of the staples on the older RN watch...

Re: Dartmouth black dial: screw down crown ?

Yes, the whole Bezel is slightly bigger on the Dartmouth. The crown on the Trident Diver is a solid 7mm diameter (just measured mine). You'll also notice the stem of the crown on the Dartmouth is 1mm longer, to provide clearance for the bezel. Guy Sent from my Xperia 5 using Tapatalk Excellent info...

Re: Dartmouth black dial: screw down crown ?

Looks good and you're quite correct, the bezel on the Dartmouth is 42mm, compared to the 41mm on the C65 Trident Diver and GMT. Thanks ! Are you saying that the bezel of the DM is different from the C65 Diver ? I thought it was just a different insert... And by the way, is it me or the crown is als...

Re: Dartmouth black dial: screw down crown ?

https://i.imgur.com/PHff02m.jpg Really liking this watch. The screw down crown feels very smooth and precise, and it's a great touch that it really is a no-date movement (no ghost position on the crown). Only complaint is that it wears a bit bigger than I was expecting, I measured the bezel and it ...

Re: Dartmouth black dial: screw down crown ?

Thank you Kip, that's excellent news !

I'm fine with the rated WR, but I've had crown accidents while diving in the past, that's why I only trust a screw-down crown. A push-in crown is too much risk.

Re: Dartmouth black dial: screw down crown ?

I'm not sure about the particular models you are discussing, but I can't see the point of having a screw down crown on a manual wind watch, such as the c65 vintage. Technically though, I don't think you actually need a screw down crown for a watch to be waterproof. I would trust CW WR ratings, in a...

Re: Dartmouth black dial: screw down crown ?

Thanks for chiming in ! Looking forward to receiving confirmation from owners of the black... I also asked CW via the contact form of the website, but have asked things before and never got an answer through that channel... I still want to believe. The black Dartmouths are all in pre-order, could it...

Dartmouth black dial: screw down crown ?

Hello, I was considering a birthday gift to myself and the black dial Dartmouth looked promising,. In the website all the black dial versions are described as having a screw down crown in the list of features, while all the blue dial version's appear as having a push-in crown. Is this correct or som...
