Looks terrific - very retro.

The rear box crystal makes the case a lot slimmer than it should be. A hugely underrated brand, Brellum.

Re: Buying watches before the Internet

I’d been given my first watch, a Timex, but I recall the first watch I bought, a 1970’s Seiko chronograph with a steel “racing” bracelet, came from a tiny shop (chosen from what they had under a glass case). Going off topic (sorry, but bear with), much later, I bought my first “good” (read “quite ex...

Re: Experience of the eBay Authentication Service

As I understand it, the ASS (Authentication Service from Stoll) is designed to add a layer of comfort to the transaction, born out of fraudulent sales on the platform. As such I expect the service has increased the number of more expensive sales. The “occasional” problem is the cost of this extra co...

Re: Experience of the eBay Authentication Service

^^ Sorry to hear all this, and little solace I know, but you are both covered if the item ends up lost. Following the incident with the missing keyring from my LE Bremont DH-88, they had to cough up a not insignificant amount to compensate me, after I offered to report the theft to the 5-O.

Re: Tonneau cases?

I think of this VC Harmony as a tonneau case, though it’s arguably not, and I would understand if the OP or other mods deleted this reply and banned me, but this piece is so beautiful it would be worth it. This is as close to my grail as any watch could be, even though I don’t really subscribe to th...

Re: Meetups can be great!

Just don’t do what @Bahnstormer_vRS used to do and stick it on a NATO strap…… No chance, it’s never going near a NATO strap ever again…. Squeezed an old-ish 22mm Bremont into the 21mm lugs because it needs curved ends, and works well except that I can’t use the original clasp which comes in at a sv...

Re: Meetups can be great!

Another meet up, another watch! Had a little GTG with a forum elder to complete a trade for this amazing Breguet Type XX Aeronavale Flyback Chronograph limited edition. I’ve had my eye on it for a while. Perfectly sized at 39mm and not too blingy for daily use, but my oh my feels fantastic on the wr...

Re: I thought I had an exit plan and then StrapMeister sold his Anonimo...

Congratulations- the Panerai connection was what first brought Anonimo to my attention - that’s nice pick up. Like you, my head is also telling me that I’ve bought my last watch and I need to let some go, and like you, I know deep down that’s not going to happen just yet. Clearly, neither of us has ...

Re: Mike Pearson is CW's new American Brand Director

I became aware of Mike when he was at Bremont, and he was a wonderful stateside advocate for them. I was very surprised and a little upset for him when they let him go. CW are lucky to have him, and I wish him every success.

Re: Watch Brands with the Highest Markups

It’s hard to refute a general statement that some brands mark up their products by silly multiples. I suggest Mike’s unwillingness to name names is more down to the fact that it’s unprofessional to do that, and to a lesser (but still significant extent), his comments are anecdotal (I assume he has n...

Re: Fedex

Come to mention it, I had that one time with Fedex - a week from the depot 30 miles away. I live in a village, and we’re always last on the route so we often get skipped if the drivers are running late, along with the usual “we tried to deliver but no-one home” rubbish…. Eventually arrived, but I un...
