Re: the REC RJM Limited Edition Spitfire

Resurrecting an old thread, because I just received an email with a code “RJM-20-OFF” for 20% off the RJM range, which brings the price down to about £800 or just over $1,000. RECWatches has an interesting product range, not all to my taste, offering watches with recycled metal from a Spitfire, Ford...

Re: New Kickstarter from Yema coming

In House Movements seem to be the nirvana that the media in particular espouses. I saw one video where the reviewer stated, stupidly I thought, “I think you should have put an in-house movement inside” (the brand in question isn’t in a position to throw one together, and currently uses ETA movements...

I’ve let these go over the past 12 months and I’ve always felt little sad 😥 when they’ve gone but I did it for good reasons....😃 07545BC0-5048-41A2-95CE-FD300DA8804C.jpeg 88247297-7D15-4930-A370-649DAD6C230F.jpeg BA20EC90-4452-4131-967A-332AB3777F8C.jpeg 1E2FA471-BE93-46A4-80D2-7FA71FDED309.jpeg BD4...

Re: Sending a watch to Europe!

I have used Royal Mail Parcelforce - it was a few months ago as Covid was peaking first time round. The watch sat between Heathrow & Lisbon for 3 weeks. Once it resumed its journey it was a couple of days. I found out later that the insurance doesn’t cover jewellery, which includes watches, so I did...

Re: Is the 8-10 week wait for CW servicing really that bad?

I think it’s excessive for a warranty repair if it’s returned for warranty within the first couple of months, which suggests it was never right. I sent my C8 back after 1 week, was quoted 8-10 weeks, but I asked if they could fast track it under the circumstances. They agreed and did it in about 6 w...

Re: Interesting UK Kickstarter - Nardi

^^ I like Marmite!

Seriously though - all microbrand first campaigns on KS are risky, this has a bold design and it could be either brilliant or awful. We’ll see in 2 weeks.

Re: Interesting UK Kickstarter - Nardi

^ It’s as if the campaign continued after it was officially closed, extended due to the pandemic. The team has delivered a continuous (though at times sporadic) stream of updates, pictures, videos, Skype calls and, amazingly enough, decision-making collaborations over the last several months. It was...

Re: Does this sound a bit daft?

That watch, as will most of our collective mountain, will outlive this pandemic. Its time will come.

My collection of GMTs & Worldtimers have not been used in anger since February. I still wear them, and they still bring a smile to my face, as I hope they will do for many years.

Re: Interesting UK Kickstarter - Nardi

A retail version of the HMS-C20 will be offered for pre-order on the Nardi Watches website on the 20th October (00:00 UK time).

And the first batches of the Kickstarter “reward” are expected to ship on Monday 23 with the STP 1-11 movement.

^^ You’re most welcome. Fingers crossed the straps will fit - I’m fairly sure they will and One of those colours you chose is quite a statement! ^ The Nardi HMS-C20 is promising to be fab. I asked Mark about the bezel in particular; he said he wanted it to feel like a dial and be easy to use with gl...

Re: New Topper x Oris Diver 1965 “Maxi” LE

^ I’ve had a 65 Vintage for a couple of years now and the distortion is one of my favourite aspects of a watch with a box crystal. I don’t know why, I just think it looks great. From a low angle, fine. My C65 diver and my Speedmaster both do that. But viewed from vertically above that is way too mu...

Re: There’s a lot more to a watch than the obvious

The watch is beautiful, and looks to be in very good condition. I love reading the background behind individual pieces, and this is a very moving story Richard, thanks for sharing.

Re: Incoming; Bremont number 2 (only)

It looks terrific Guy. “Congratulations” are in order. I agree with just about everything you say. Bremont watches do seem to wear small for their size. At 45mm it’s big but not huge. In fact I think it wears smaller than another watch we’ve both owned (the 44mm Magrette Kara), and maybe smaller tha...
