Re: New arrival - STEINHART Ocean Titanium 500 GMT Premium

Steinharts offer good quality/price. I find however that my Tridents are a step up in quality and finish perception over my Steinharts. But then thry cost more too. And they have more character as well.

Re: Left field options

Rado is quite off the beaten track compared to the watches that WIS most aspire to. However, innovative use of materials, great fit and finish, and high personality in their own universe.

Really just bring one watch. It’s liberating after a day of agony.

Re: New Casual Weekender Watch (Recommendations Appreciated)

MKII Hawkinge.
Perfectionist fit and finish. Crisp. 38mm. Beautiful on nato. Comes with or without date. I bought mine on leather with date.
A bit over budget at $650 if I remember well, but really nice.

Don’t do it.
Wear what you have and save for the Tudor.

Re: Favourite brands – a perennial question re-visited

A toss-up between :

- Damasko for offering real engineering features for a reasonable price. And even equally interesting inhouse movements higher up in the range.

- Nomos for their refined models and focused, gradual evolution approach

Re: Planet Ocean 8900 43.5 vs other watches

Tried it in a shop. It is really quite a lump on the wrist, unpleasantly so for me. Not because of the width but because of the thickness.
Finish and quality perception is very good of course.

Re: Non CW of the Day

Having crazy thoughts about downsizing and how small I could get my collection. I wear this nearly every day so it's definitely safe https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180803/fd0bd538668458680e5109e7f8f8396f.jpg Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk Crazy is the key word here, Neil. Re: new arrival #2 - trident 600 gmt mkii

I have the exact same one and love it as well.
My one wish would be for a full 24h bezel instead of that weird mix with a diver and with little markers for the uneven hours.

Re: Any experience with Orient ?

The base orients are charming alternatives to seiko 5. Decent for the money. But cw ison another level.
I actuall have 4 orients incl the bambino. I only wear one of them now - the orient star standard date 2003, really an exceptional one for reasonable money.

What is better? MKII adjusts them well. Mine does around +2s per day which is similar to the experience of others

Re: Time for a new watch

I have both steinhart and cw and while steinhart offers good value, the cw fit and finish is on a higher level, hence I recommend to wait for the next sale. Interesting, perfectionist alternatives are the MKII Hawkinge and Paradive 3. Mine: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180429/df962b01885fcdca2...
