Steinhart ocean one vintage red 39mm

Hi, First non CW post Thought I'd share my thoughts on my new acquisition, the Steinhart ocean one vintage red 39mm. Nabbed one a a good price off of eBay rather than stay up late watching the Gnomon page... Ive always shied away from homage watches, ive had a few in the past but most have left me a...

Re: New Invicta watch

It’s a massive complement to CW. Invicta normally just copy subs and seamasters

Re: eBay experience

I buy and sell most of my watches on eBay. I have found eBay to be very fair with resolutions etc. I’ve had a seller not post and I’ve had to make a claim about 6years ago, did take some time. I’ve also sold a watch through eBay GSP and hd it DOA with a busted crown, and eBay picked up the tab (or t...

Re: Retained value

Although CW don’t hold their value as much as say Rolex and we’re talking % here, not overall cost, I do find a very healthy pre-owned market demand for CW. I’ve never had any issues selling a CW and loads are available. I class eBay as my watch box. I will admit I’m a serial flipper, but some stay ...

Re: Retained value

Wow,

I‘ll admit I’ve never bought a full price CW, but it looks like I’ve just overpaid for the one I’ve just bought then as no extra straps and I paid a bit more! However I’m entirely comfortable with what I paid and have no regrets.

Retained value

Hi,

Just seen a 40mm mk3 C60 GMT black blue on bracelet with 2 hybrid straps also in perfect condition go for £540 on eBay from a seller in Holland. Is that not remarkably cheap??

Re: Mk2 vs mk3 C60 GMT opinions needed

Well I struggled for a long time with the mk3 hand set whereas my affection for the mk1/2 handset was immediate and lasting so I can kinda see your dilemma. Case finish? Much more sculpted and gone are the slightly-too-deep case slab sides. Lume? Remember how your old CW doesn't really "do" lume? I...

Mk2 vs mk3 C60 GMT opinions needed

I’m contemplating getting a mk3 38mm gmt to replace my mk2. I’m sure there are plenty on this forum that have had both and can give me a subjective opinion. All of my research suggests most regard the mk3 as a significant upgrade, I must say I’m not sure which I prefer the looks of (i love the versa...

Re: Christopher Ward C65 Homage

Given CW are a value proposition and keep overheads low, I wonder what companies offering homages do to make money, even lower margins? Even lower overheads? My guess is probably lower quality to achieve the price. I’ve got nothing against homages per se, but homages of lower value Seiko and now CW ...

Re: What would I like CW to Design next?

This! in 38mm, the modern C65, a bit of an old idea as the original C65 was simply the C65 without a rotating bezel, but with virtually zero development cost it would be a winner.

Re: contemplations for a smaller watch

Late to the party, but for others finding this thread, no one mentioned the Tudor black bay 36 (in blue). It’s a shame that the bracelet doesn’t have the glide lock (photo found in hurry)

Talking of food related watches, I have an urge to get one of these, but haven’t as I’m not sure I’d wear it much.

Diving, Driving, Flying, Eggtiming...

The irony is I would probably have more use for an egg timer than any other watch complication!

Re: The Practice of Selling NN as Brand New.

What gets my goat is when it’s listed as new and they say in the description “only worn twice” they could at least have the decency to lie consistently
