That’s clever! I’ve been working my brain trying to think of variations on Sea Urchin, since that’s what it easy. But Meiko has a great ring to it.

(Maybe it is the logo after all!)
I’ve got to be honest, I might actually think a little less of the line now after seeing that mock up!

Re: Purposeful regression

I was feeling similar about cars and the amount of computerised intervention/control a while ago and went for a 1960s car as my funaround. The reality wasn't quite as appealing and whilst driving it was a visceral experience, maintenance and safety were somewhat challenging. There's a happy in betw...

I think that small detail makes quite a big difference.

Re: Non CW of the Day

The modded Seiko (I need a good name for this!) for moving back into my classroom today. The more I look at and wear this watch, the more I realize this really is the ideal diver for me. It’s exactly what I want. I think I’ll do a movement upgrade soon so that it is hand wind-able and hacks. 5A318E0...

Re: Purposeful regression

Which turntable did you get? I’ve gone from a basic U-Turn Orbit to a Schiit Sol (discontinued nearly immediately by Schiit, so I sold it because the repair market was going to be impossible later on) and landed on a really beautiful Rega P6. I totally agree with your vinyl philosophy. I listen to ...

Re: Purposeful regression

My embrace of a mechanical watch and refusal to get an Apple Watch are for the exact reasons you’ve described. I’m too connected as it is with an iPhone and iPad. An Apple Watch would make that worse. I’ve also tried doing it with music, although not in the same form as you. I’ve acquired a decent t...

Your posts speak volumes about this guy. As I’m in the States, doubtful I’d ever have make use of his services, but I went ahead and gave him a follow on IG.

Re: Are people warming?

This one is just so different from what I would normally jump on, but it’s growing on me in a way that is making me think of how tired and dated some other styles are. This is something from the past, with something down the road. That’s modern, and surpassing contemporary. It is really growing on ...

Re: Are people warming?

The watch itself is less than the sum of its parts, in my view. It’s all well and good on paper but somehow, to me, I can’t get around to loving it. I have similar feelings about the C60 MK3. There is no “one element” that’s wrong about it, it just doesn’t work completely as an entity. I’m still in...

Re: Jokes to cheer us up

Not a joke exactly, but maybe still good for a laugh. So I told this tale to my kids in class while doing a quick review of Renaissance art. I put up an image of da Vinci’s The Last Supper and spun this tale: Here is da Vinci’s take on the last supper shared by Christ and his disciples. If you take ...

Slide it right over to one side like this

Then pull the leather back to reveal the tip of the spring bar

And slide it out.
Never in a million years would I have thought of that! Thanks for sharing this.

Heuer Carrera Calibre 18 Telemeter 4EB5D385-78CC-479B-BFE1-A377173B3C89.jpeg I think I have commented on the before but it really is up there with nicest Heuer watches I have seen. I have to agree. I particularly like that it has a telemetry scale. That’s unusually, and consequently, very appealing.
