My original Black Bay is an ETA, Bremont based on ETA, IWC have ETA movements (I believe downers has an ETA in it). There are many more that could be mentioned. I don’t see the issue, but a lot of ‘WIS snobs’ look down their nose at them. I prefer ETA/Selitta base due to cheaper and easier servicing...

I would agree, however I have used the Hirsch performance leather straps in water without issue and here is the screen shot from the CW page which certainly implies they are waterproof. I think the glue coming away on my strap is directly related to pool use, but the creasing of the leather may not...
