Re: Kickstarter: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

I've got to agree chaps, these pandas look fab!! Nice size and less than 11mm thick for an automatic chronograph is amazing!! Also nice to see the movement through the case back. Digging a little deeper into the specs, the approx 11mm is just the case thickness. There’s a box hesalite crysta...

Re: Kickstarter: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

This just popped up. New Maen Skymaster 38mm automatic (ETA 2894) chronograph. Coming to kickstarter in Sept at €799. Sounds too good to be true  I am impressed. Much thinner than a 7750 based watch. Great size, and nice choice of dial colours. Dare I say, with the sub-dial placement, it's a...

Re: Smiths Vanguard anyone?

^^^^ Thanks for the write up on Eddie and the watches that he creates and your own Smiths Vanguard. I'm really glad you like your new Vanguard - I think the watch looks really good! Please could you send a few photos of your watch to this link, I'd especially like to see it on the tropic strap.

Re: Smiths Vanguard anyone?

I’ve worn my C7 auto chrono today as the Smiths would have replaced it. Decided to stick with the C7 - I like the case too much to part with it yet. The big draw for me with the Smiths is simply the word ‘England’ on the dial. I shall keep looking for my perfect fit watch with England on the dial. ...

Some day when we meet up yonder We'll stroll watches on wrists again In a land that knows no partin' Wearing this blue dial in the rain.. Is there any significance of the verse (other than it goes with the watch)? Guy Willie Nelson - Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain And with the lovely Shania Twain!

Re: Smiths Vanguard anyone?

Personally I think it’s a slab-sided brute of a thing. And the polished bezel seems far to wide in my eyes. One has just appeared on the TZ sales corner for the second time in as many days! must be close to a record. I think you’re right - lucky I was taking SWMBO to the Station when the sale start...

Re: What size is your wrist size?

No wonder, I have always gravitated towards chunky, wider watches...I have a 8.5 inch wrist. Anything under 40mm is way to small for me. Thus why dress watches don't usually work for me at that size. I tend to stay with sporty watches that have more wrist presence. I do find plenty of 40mm dress wa...

Re: Smiths Vanguard anyone?

Damn! Didn’t know anything about them - Off to the site I go to take a look Edit: Just been to have a look, tried adding the black to the basket but sales on hold until all existing purchases have been shipped - maybe up to 2 weeks If you follow Eddie’s forum pages (he is Swanbourne - check out mes...

Re: Nearly New watches onsite 2

I tried with a sale C65 and a couple of watch pods to go over £500, but no dice on the discount code. It seemed to work for £500 without the tax for the discount done this way. If you put a £120 bracelet with the C65 it will take the £100 discount off. Or add 3 leather straps - it won't take the £1...

Smiths Vanguard anyone?

Did anyone snag a Smiths Vanguard from Timefactors Saturday before last? I was very tempted but had to drive SWMBO to the train station at 15.00 when they became available on-line for purchase. The 50 white dial ones sold out in 17 minutes and all trading was stopped so they could be sorted and sent...

Re: What size is your wrist size?

I found this survey (link here) interesting: Average wrist size: 6.74" The ideal watch diameter size: 37.77mm The ideal diameter for a sports watch: 39.28mm It was difficult to work out average wrist sizes from the original survey done in 2014 on the CW forum as the 6.5" (165mm) to 7.25" (184mm) was...
