Re: Falling out of love
I think that in some cases there is unobtainable level of customer expectation, also when factored into the price point. Delays and wait times from Rolex, Tudor, Omega etc are acceptable but CW are not? From my understanding the BC was a surprise hit, so scaling up production is harder than one woul...

Re: Inner steel ring pro 300 /atoll am I just to fussy misaligned again!
I have two 300’s a 40mm and a 42mm and being honest I could not tell if mine were off or not. I had a good look even with a magnifying glass. From the picture above I don’t think that I would be able to tell if it were off, let alone at arms length.

Re: “In-House obscures the quality of movements and insults our intelligence...”
Historically, most of the Swiss watches houses bought in movements, as previously mentioned. Rolex and Patek bought in from Valjoux, Omega bought in from Lemania. Rolex arguably only became a true ‘in house’ in 2004 by the purchase of Aegler SA (who also made movements for Gruen). Since the Swatch G...

We have all done it. I have a Porsche Design sat gathering dust in a watch box that I should not have bought. It may grow on you, it may not.
Sell it take the loss and think better for having owned it.

Re: The most overpriced watches…
The Perezcope.com website does look at the Richemont Group quite closely with regard to pricing and quality. Both Panerai and IWC both fair quite badly. It is well worth a read if you have them time.

Re: Other New Christopher Ward Complications
My complication would be one of simplicity. How about a simple two handed watch, great case (polished), SH21 powered (auto), applied logo, gloss dial (or enamel), no lume, dauphine hands. Think something like King Seiko meets PP calatrava

Re: Omega Extract of the Archives has arrived!
You just send the serial numbers from caseback and movement. Omega (IIRC) stopped with delivering extracts. In these basic models they dont ad anything to value and as it comes to more expensive models, it means next to nothing. As we all saw with latest Moonwatch affair. As it comes to both number...

Re: Collectable Christopher Ward Models
I have a couple of early CW’s C5a mk1 from 2006. Do I think collectible, not really but they are great watches that I enjoy. There are still a few CW’s from their back catalogue that I would like to own. Having several of an item is technically a collection. But cannot see myself selling my CW’s poc...

Re: Zero West - new smaller case
I visited a few days ago. Great place with a great atmosphere, Andrew is a great host. There is a Rolls Royce Merlin engine in the middle of the showroom. The watches wear really well, don’t be put off by the case size. The quality is right up there, something a bit different. Highly recommend a vis...

Re: CW brand name on dial
There must be another respected watch maker that doesn't put their name on the dial but I can't think of one. Anyone?? Some H. Moser come without the name on the dial. Others in the collection have a ‘ghost’ image of the name. A lot of military issued watches came without names on dials. But that a...

Re: Early morning thoughts on movements...
In the end we all look at the totality of what is offered against its price and decide whether it is interesting enough to us to fork out our hard-earned money. Would I pay what's asked for the VC Fifty Six? It's a nice looking and beautifully finished watch but no chance. Others clearly will. Woul...

Re: Early morning thoughts on movements...
I want to throw a controversial watch into this mix for discussion. The Vacheron Constantin Fifty Six Self-Winding. I've worn one, and it looks and feels like it comes from a 'Great House'. Really impressive. In order to keep the price 'down' *cough* it uses a ValFleurier movement that is finished,...

Re: Early morning thoughts on movements...
From my perspective there seems to be a lot of smoke, mirrors and marketing between ‘in house’, ‘in group’ and ‘proprietary’ movements. In the 40’s,50’s and 60’s most Swiss brands bought in movements from the like of AS, Venus, Valjoux, Minerva, ARSa,ETA and others and no one really minded. Even the...
