Looking for NYC watchmaker

Can someone recommend a good watchmaker in NYC to clean and adjust my Trident GMT? (ETA 2893-2 movement). This is a well-known movement and I don't see a reason to send it to England just for a cleaning. I would prefer Manhattan, but Brooklyn is OK too.

Re: Advice please - Hr hand sits mid between numerals

This happened recently to the GMT hand on my Christopher Ward C60 Trident Pro GMT. It was still under the guarantee so I returned it to CW, who repaired it. I think the only possible way this could happen is by a hand coming loose or moving from a shock. A watchmaker should be able to take the movem...

The "Sandhurst" from the military collection

I got a CW magazine a few days ago and was intrigued about the CW watches that are homages to British military watches. In particular, the "Sandhurst" is an homage to the Smiths W 10, a famous watch made for the British military and supposedly the last watch made entirely in England. In ad...

Has anybody added a cyclops to a CW?

I've been alternating wearing my 38 mm Christoper Ward C 60 Trident GMT and my 1983-vintage Rolex Submariner, and I have to say that for most purposes I like the Trident better. The dial is bigger (even though the case is 2 mm smaller), the fat minute hand coming to a sharp point is easier to see qu...

Re: Trouble with the GMT hand on my Trident GMT

I emailed CW today, telling them basically what I told you guys but also enclosing a scan of the Certificate of Authenticity, which is dated August 17, 2016. I don't have the date of sale to the original seller, but since the date on the Certificate is less than 5 years ago, the sale must have been ...

Thanks. Yes, I have the owner's manual and the certificate of authenticity. I will contact CW.

Trouble with the GMT hand on my Trident GMT

I'm having a very strange problem with my Trident GMT. The GMT hand no longer points to the proper place relative to the other hands. When it's exactly on a number, the minute hand isn't at 12 but is 20 to 25 minutes past 12. This makes it very difficult to use the GMT feature because that hand move...

How Accurate Can A Trident GMT Be?

I've been regulating my Trident GMT and I've gotten it to the point where it gains about 2 second per day. I'm wondering whether I should call that good enough, or can you get an ETA 2893-2 significantly better than this? I'd like it as accurate as possible, but it's a truism that if you fool around...

Smaller Bracelet Adjustments?

I have a Trident GMT and the bracelet is a TINY bit too loose for my wrist with the movable pin on the buckle in the tightest of the 3 holes. If I take out another link, it will be a TINY bit too tight with the movable pin in the loosest of the 3 holes (been there before). I wish CW had drilled more...

Re: New C8 UTC Worldtimer

They won't sell you a hand on its own. Looks like you're right. This is the message I sent to CW and the reply I got today. Is this the normal situation with watch companies? (For example, would Rolex sell you a hand on its own if you wanted to put, e.g., Submariner hands on a Presidential or whate...

Re: New C8 UTC Worldtimer

When I saw this C8 UTC Worldtimer thread, I immediately realized this is what I need for my Trident GMT. I've been wearing my 38 mm Trident GMT about 3 months, and there's really nothing I don't like about it except for one irritating problem: the bright, yellow 24-hour hand is too conspicuous and v...

Re: How Much is the CW five-year warranty worth?

I just checked the instruction book, which is still in the box, and I do have the certificate of authenticity, which includes the date of sale (or at least the date the certificate was filled out: March 17, 2016). I think I have every piece of paper that would normally come with the watch. But I don...

Re: How Much is the CW five-year warranty worth?

Some people here seem to think my worries are groundless and the warranty is fine. That is not correct. This is what I was told in an email by Ms. Wera Mettles, head of customer service at CW: "If you want to buy from another customer, the warranty can be transferred. But we must get the detail...
