Re: Would you go to the ends of the Earth?
I went from Cumbria to Alaska and got a Bremont.
Not sure it counts though as I was on a planned holiday and it was an unplanned purchase.

Re: HELP! Stripped torx screw
Drill down the centre from the torx head side. Use a 1mm drill at high speed, then slowly go up in size to about 1.5mm.
Then, use a stud extractor if you can find one that small, or, run a tap the same size as the origional threads down the hole, that should clear the threads.

That is a great watch, congrats.
Have you noticed all the reflections from the angles on the indices and hands as you move it around in the light?
I have been lucky to own one for 13yrs and still love it!

Re: Consort on the cheap?
The end links could certainly be shaped with a file, but, the difficulty would be matching the surface finish to the rest of the links.
Even a fine file might be too rough.
You could try wet and dry, start at a low number and work up until you get the desired finish.

Re: New hobby
Wood working. I’ve always wanted to get into that, just don’t have the time right now. I like that idea too, but space and setting up costs are prohibitive. However, an advert popped up on my feed for a hand-held pen grip carver/etcher. But like a dremel I think. More ergonomic, can carve into ston...

The first one I did was a reef knot. 20230813_194402.jpg Then came various figures and tiki heads, all done with just a knife. 20230813_194452.jpg The green man and animals were done with chisels 20230813_194342.jpg The wood used is lime. I wouldn't recommend starting with anything else. You can get...
Re: New hobby
Woodworking has been mentioned, but how about a variation on the theme?
Whittling!
All you need to start is a sharp knife and a bit of wood and let your imagination go.
I have been doing it a bit for about a year and find it totally engrosses me.
My results are improving too!
