Re: Non CW of the Day

After an afternoon in the garden I chucked a small steak on the grill.

Re: Coronavirus Weekly Check-In Thread - March 29

Nearly a week into 2 weeks isolation here and all is well with no one else showing symptoms so far. Currently working out my return to work in 10 days, restricted hours, restricted access and reduced manning are all having a severe effect. My employers are now paying extra to key workers to stay at ...

Re: The Curmudgeons Corner

Just had a phone call from a supposedly intelligent female relative who is apoplectic about hairdressers closing!

I was lost for (polite) words......

Re: Coronavirus

I have been impressed how, at least on the public front, there has been very little infighting between the Labour and tory parties.
Its good to see in these difficult and challenging times people putting differences aside for the greater good.

Re: Coronavirus Weekly Check-In Thread - March 21

Eldest son laid off yesterday until at least June 1st.
He is now looking into mortgage holiday and govt wage support.
Fortunately, his wife is a teacher and will still be paid normally.

Re: Coronavirus Weekly Check-In Thread - March 21

I guess we are in a bit of an unusual position here at Ian Mc towers. Mrs Mc normally works from home most of the time, so she continues to work despite being under isolation. I work in essential services, (gas production), but am on sick leave at the moment. My isolation will end 1 day after my sic...

Re: Coronavirus

As of today my wife, son, daughter in law and myself are now in 2weeks self isolation after d in law came home from work in a supermarket with symptoms.
I was sort of expecting this, but it's come quicker than I thought it would.
Keep well everyone.

Re: Coronavirus Weekly Check-In Thread - March 21

Not too bad here in S Cumbria, usual numpties buying up food leaving little for everyone else. I feel as though I have been in semi isolation for the last 8 weeks anyway, recovering from a broken ankle. Not due back in work for a couple of weeks yet. Confirmed cases here in Cumbria are up nearly 50%...

My grail watch for 2020 pitched up sooner than expected.20200304_124634.jpg
Very nice.
Problem with getting the grail early is the significant risk of identifying another 2020 grail before the year is out.

Re: Looking furtively or staring?

Sometimes when I am teaching, I quite pointedly and deliberately sit there staring at my watch in full view of the class*. Within a few seconds they will be nudging one another and within about 15 seconds there will not be a sound in the room apart from the furious scratching of pens on paper. It’s...
