Re: Help with a legacy purchase please

Have you considered a Cartier? Something like the Tank is a timeless classic. The Drive De Cartier has more modern lines but is, I think, destined to become a future classic. Either would be more affordable, and perhaps acceptable, to your wife than a PP. Drive-De-Cartier-Rose-Steel-wsnm0004[1].jpg

Re: Edinburgh GTG - Chat with Chris - Saturday 19th January 2019

It's not a two part arrow like those, more like a single triangle. I think it looks quite unique, and a good way forward from the onion hand. I know I might be in the minority here but I prefer the existing 'onion' hand Please, waterdrop hand. Much more appropriate. :-) It takes a bit of getting us...

Re: Returns packaging used.

I've not had to do it with a CW but I used my pod to ship an Omega. That's what they're for. It will fit inside a padded envelope okay and I add a little extra bubble wrap just to be sure.

Re: Non-EU customers potentially now (more) liable for import duty

Thanks Kip. I’ve passed my thoughts onto Scott and Chris about the changes to shipping in Canada. I do hope the other Canadians on the forum follow suit..... I had one friend who was looking at a watch this weekend and shelved the idea after we discussed the impact of DHL on the final consumer cost...

Re: Non-EU customers potentially now (more) liable for import duty

Good info Mark, thank you. We'll just need to factor the duty into any future purchases if applicable.

Non-EU customers potentially now (more) liable for import duty

It looks as though USA customers (and probably other non-EU customers) will have a higher likelihood of being charged import duty on CW orders. A customer posted elsewhere that he had been assessed $80 duty on his new Trident Chrono shipped to the USA via DHL so I fired off a quick email to Scott Ca...

Re: Thoughts & Advice Please

If you don't want to brush the bracelet center links yourself (easy job), any half-decent jeweller can do it for you for not a lot of money. I recently brushed the PCL on my C60GMT and it only took about 30 minutes, going slow. It took me longer to refit the bracelet to the watch to be honest.

Re: Bronze watch Patina... Does it stop???

I have a Zelos Bronze Mako (wearing it today in fact). I've had it since April and it has developed a lovely olive-brown patina, rather like a penny looks after a while. There is minor verdigris inside the bezel edge serrations and some between the lugs but little elsewhere. The bronze buckle did ma...

Re: January Sale 2019

I don't know if anyone has said it already, however good to see the website holding up robustly to the challenge of the volume of sales traffic 8) It held up but I wouldn't describe it as robust. There were times I thought it was about to keel over - particularly around 11.30 EST or 16.30 GMT. It d...

Re: January Sale 2019

Since when have any sales, especially CW, been "fairly" timed. As far as I can remember CW sales have generally started mid-morning to mid-afternoon on any day whether it be a potential holiday day or not. And what about those people that have jobs that require them to work non 9-5 and/or on Christ...

Re: What are your watch plans for 2019?

Like others, I plan to drastically reduce my collection down to around 8 core watches. I only have one more grail watch on my list and I'm not at all sure I'll be able to add it 2019. No plans to buy anything else at this point but you never know.
