Re: Its what we've all been waiting for . . . .. .

I love bi-compax chronos so this looks good to me, and the name is in the 'right' place too! Not sure about the yellow - it's a little bit 'shouty' to me. On the other hand, had it been orange highlights I may well have gone for one. Maybe other variations will be released in due course. Regarding t...

Re: Quartz Alternative to Seiko SARB033 - Suggestions?

Looks great, what is its model number please? It's the SGEG61 but I don't think it's been available for quite a few years. Edit: there's a new one available on eBay ex-Singapore for $87 right now with free international shipping https://www.ebay.com/itm/SALE-Seiko-Black-Dial-Stainless-Steel-Strap-M...

Re: Quartz Alternative to Seiko SARB033 - Suggestions?

My quartz GS look-a-like. $60! This was one of my 2 daily wearers for several years before falling down the rabbit hole..

Re: Newmark 52 Field Watch

This is correct. I just chatted with Ewan Wilson, the owner of Newmark, and he confirmed 2hz, 4 ticks of the seconds hand per second which means that my other part was incorrect. The seconds hand on a 28.8k movement does in fact move 8 times per second.

Re: Newmark 52 Field Watch

A bit more research on the ol' Interweb suggests that the Seiko Instruments VH31A 1/4 second Quartz; (seconds hand ticks at 1/4 seconds) used in the Newmark 52 works out to 2Hz; therefore low-beat. I'm thoroughly confused! Guy I may be wrong, but my understanding is that the vibrations per hour are...

Interestingly, in has a relatively new Seiko quartz movement with 4 ticks per second, making it look like a low-beat automatic.
Wouldn't that make it the equivalent of a 28.8 mechanical movement?

Re: Newmark 52 Field Watch

I own the Newmark 71 myself (2 in fact) but this release leaves me somewhat cold. Not sure why they decided to make it with a quartz movement rather than using a Miyota 9000 series again but I still wouldn't have bought one anyway.

Re: A new watch for myself!

Congrats. It's a really versatile watch and can be dressed up or down with a simple strap change. I love mine. Could I ask where you got that strap from please, Phil? Steveostraps.com. This one is a 2 piece and is not listed on his website. You'll see the Nato version but just drop him an email and...

Leaving the pushers unscrewed isn’t an issue as stated by others because they only screw in to avoid operation under water. I thought your query was with operation in high moisture atmosphere?

It is.

To put your mind at risk you could get a 100m WR test done at a local watchmaker with the pushers not screwed in.

That Neil, is the obvious and best answer. Kudos. It wasn't obvious until you suggested it!
