Re: Do you like bronze watches?

My only bronze watch to date. Although I believe it may have been nickel plated at one time. That’s pretty lovely. Looks like it could be brass rather than bronze? I have a few vintage pieces where the silver-coloured-plating or gold plate has been worn away, and they look like that underneath. I h...

Re: History of Ball Watches

There was an assertion that the origin of phrase "on the ball" referenced the reliance of timekeeping on the watches.
I suspect there might be alternative theories. :silent:

History of Ball Watches

Some may have already seen it, but I've just come across this PBS video detailing the history of Ball watches- the railroad safety legacy through to establishing Webb C Ball as one of the eminent watchmakers in the US. https://www.pbs.org/video/wviz-pbs-ideastream-specials-ball-story-webb-c-ball-rai...

Re: QC Issues C9 Chronometer

If I were Mike the solution would be simple and I would offer the customer 2 options and let them choose and for clarity Mike did offer a refund but that's not my preferred course of action. [/b] 1. Offer a movement swap (not a repair) no questions asked with a guaranteed turnaround time (that woul...

Re: QC Issues C9 Chronometer

Dodging the CS issue discussion, I'm not sure that's a bridge screw- more like it's a movement clamp screw. There are usually two or more holding the movement into the case together with a small springy metal retention plate which holds the movement down against a lip in the case. You can see one of...

Do like the genre, but would have much preferred a screw-down crown.

Re: Iconostasis - the Watch Wonderwall

On the other end of the scale lives those watches which while not extravagant or even particularly of world-class quality have been a staple in the world of horology. Responsible for drawing in many to the world of mechanical watches due to simplicity, resilience and value, there cant’t be many whic...

Re: Has SH21 evolved since launch?

"the seconds hand jumps back about 5 seconds when setting the time which I understand is normal with the SH21". <tongue in cheek> Fully wound or not, that feels like a need for further investment might be needed to refine the movement. After all, there's not much point in a hacking movement if the s...

Re: How long to respond?

Hi Tony. I'm afraid that if it's not on the website then it's not a current model- and it's anyone's guess as to whether there might be one in the future. There was a white-faced option with the C60 300 up until a year ago or so (I had one) so it's entirely possible that you might find one either on...

Re: Which Thread Lock for bracelet screws?

For the sake of security I do use a tiny amount of 222 on the screw threads. I have seen threads come undone and for the effort of using the Loctite takes the worry away. The trick is to use only a tiny amount applied from a pin and for removing them, firstly don't bodge it by using poorly fitting t...
