Re: Repair Question

Are you using an app to keep track of timing? On iOS I use WatchTracker. It won't be dead on (there is a manual tap to compare to atomic time) but it is close enough to track a watch from day to day. I usually only check the accuracy once a day. This isn't explicitly needed but you want a good amou...

Re: Repair Question

So, since I’m extremely impatient, should the watch be trending towards normalcy over the next week or two? Or will it magically course correct one day? I ask, because I’ve worn it every day for 10 days now, and it’s actually more like -18 or -19 sec/day. So if anything, it’s trending in the wrong d...

Re: Estimated delivery time to U.S. east coast?

Hi All, I purchased my first CW yesterday, and was wondering if anyone had experience with shipping to the east coast of the U.S. (D.C. specifically). I hope to get it rather soon, but understand the difficulty under the current climate. Thanks in advance. For what it’s worth, I ordered my latest w...

Re: Repair Question

You shouldn’t be hand winding an automatic watch to the point where you’re engaging the clutch. The handbooks used to recommend approx 20 winds from stopped, to get the engine running. I think they now say 10. The idea is that you get the movement started, then the rota does the rest. Fully hand wi...

Re: Repair Question

Thanks, Guy. Won’t have any problems wearing it consistently. It’s a fantastic looking piece. Maybe it just needs some love and attention after being boxed up and shipped across the world. I’m just glad there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with the movement itself. Can’t believe how easy, quiet t...

Re: Repair Question

Fair enough. Thank you, both. Sounds like the only issue is with MY tolerance. :) I’ll try the 12 o’clock down position tonight and see what happens.

Repair Question

So o bought a 40mm Trident GMT and got it in the mail last week. It is truly stunning to look at and is perfect in my wrist. However, it’s running about -15 sec per day and something about the winding doesn’t feel right to me. I’m not sure if it’s just a slow watch or if something is going on with t...

Re: In need of chronograph help

Thanks, all! This was really helpful. I’ve decided on keeping the Longines. Maybe the Stowa will be an additional purchase down the line, since it probably wears more like a tool watch, but we’ll see.

Re: In need of chronograph help

I’d choose the Longines from these two. The Stowa has a big case - 14mm tall and >50mm lug to lug. That would be ok, but the polished case gives a dressy look which is (IMHO) at odds with the dimensions. Just my opinion. Stowa actually gives the option of polished or matte finish. The stock photos ...

Re: In need of chronograph help

What attracts you towards the Stowa? Guy Sent from my Xperia 5 using Tapatalk I like the bi compax layout, the simplicity of the antique looking numerals, and I think the date window perfectly balances the bottom of the watch. I really like the Longines as well, despite the date wheel look/location...

In need of chronograph help

I’m debating whether or not to sell my Longines St. Imier Chronograph to buy the Stowa 1939 Chronograph. Am I crazy, or should I do it? The Longines is 41mm (48 lug to lug) but wears more like a 38 or 39, and I own both the bracelet and alligator deploying strap as pictured. It’s a column wheel chro...

Yeah, I like the Seiko 5 but not the day and date. Really leaning towards the Hamilton because it’s such an iconic piece, but I’ve gone back and forth on these 2 before.

New Casual Weekender Watch (Recommendations Appreciated)

I need help (in more ways than one, but just focusing on the watches today)! I’m looking for a casual, weekender type watch that would look at home on a NATO or canvas strap. I’d prefer no date window to minimize messing with a watch that I wear occasionally. I’d like to keep it in the $500 area if ...

Yeah, that's my only gripe from a visual/wearability standpoint. The price is definitely high. Why does everything I like have to be a Limited Edition?

New Hamilton Intramatic 68 Autochrono

Saw this for the first time this afternoon, and I'm in love. It's a re-release of their old chronos from the 60's. What do you think? https://shop.hamiltonwatch.com/media/catalog/product/cache/4/image/500x/17f82f742ffe127f42dca9de82fb58b1/h/3/h38716731_original_16259.png https://shop.hamiltonwatch.c...
