Re: CWL of the day

Wearing this on a Red Rock canvas strap today, it’s been on this for a few days and it gives the watch a very different look and feel to the bracelet.

It’s a shame they’ve lost the day date window with this refresh.

Re: Recommendations for Leather Quick Release Straps

Just bought a Hirsch Robby, not leather I know, but it arrived with quick release spring bars fitted. Not sure if it’s just this strap or whether Hirsch have rolled out quick release spring bars across their whole range.

Re: Made in........

Well I thought I might resurrect this thread (No coincidence to Easter), seeing as we are living through very different times to those when I started it in January. So what local businesses are we starting to turn to now to help support them in uncertain times? Are there any you wanted to give a sho...

Re: How far will watch prices drop?

Watchfinder would be the last place I would be looking at if I was in a buying mood. They've never done bargains as far as I know, something tells me they'll have a warehouse full of stock that'll be losing value daily. Never used them myself, I'm sure they've looked after a few customers over the ...

Re: Coronavirus

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-52236387 I’ve posted these updates before from the BBC website which are written by a Dr in the NHS trust where I work. This one contains details on the research and drug trials taking place at a national level and may be of interest if anyone has friends or family ...

Re: Coronavirus Weekly Check-In Thread - April 5

One of our neighbours has just dropped off a Thank you card, wine, flowers and chocolates to say thank you for working for the NHS. The gesture is really appreciated during these times.

Re: Coronavirus Weekly Check-In Thread - March 29

One of the Doctors at the hospital where I work has started a blog for the BBC about how the Trust is preparing for the inevitable increase in patients, it’s certainly an interesting time.

Re: ETA vs Sellita cost difference?

How can you take new vs old stock out of the equation? It literally IS the equation. The 'obvious reason' for the Selitta being more expensive is because it is new stock, and IWC have had a price increase since the ETA version was received by the retailer. It's that simple. The retailer has kept th...

Re: ETA vs Sellita cost difference?

A few interesting responses so far. I know a lot of us criticise brands that charge a lot more than others for a watch which houses the same, or similar, movement. My use of IWC was not intended to open up the value proposition, but to show how the exact same watch from the same manufacturer can use...

ETA vs Sellita cost difference?

I’ve noticed something strange going on with the IWC mark XVIII, I've not checked this out extensively but a quick look at Berry’s jewellers shows me this. (Note the watch in question and the price being in pounds are not important to the point I’m making) Here we have a Mk XVIII on a bracelet with ...

Re: Non CW of the Day

Nice, although I think it’s a great looking watch on the leather strap too. I tried one on last year and would be very happy to have it in the collection. The original santoni straps don’t wear very well and age very quickly. Not found an aftermarket strap which looked as good as a new santoni stra...

Re: Non CW of the Day

Well after much deliberation, I finally decided to take to plunge and add the bracelet to my Mark XVIII. So glad I did, it transforms the watch.
