Re: Buying watches from Europe, what does it mean for us?
If selling to the EU isn't the watch priced ex-VAT. So a watch retailing at £10000 taxed at 20% UK vat would be 20% cheaper when selling abroad outside the UK? Doesn't CWL quote prices ex-vat for overseas customers? Doesn't it apply for imports? You shouldn't be paying local vat when buying from abr...

Re: How important is Power Reserve to you?
I only have one watch with a power reserve, my C90 Becketts. It is interesting to look at but not essential. However, does anyone know how a watch loses power? Is it linear? Because I feel that the PR dial seems to show the power quickly declining but the watch seems to keep running for a time longe...

A case of Omega trying to catch up with CWL's C65? Really lovely watch though.

Re: Where’s CW on your ladder?
I have around 12 CW watches, starting with the C6 FLE and my wife a couple so I guess that numerically their on the top rung. I have about six or seven other brands which apart from my Omega Moonwatch cost less than my CW watches. But I must say that I'm drifting away from CW. No issue with the qual...

Re: Brexit - additional duty to pay (UK to EU shipping)
I believe that under the terms of the trade deal with the EU it is been agreed that EU sellers to the UK will be required to add UK VAT to the purchase price and remit the VAT to the UK revenue authorities. In essence getting the EU seller to do the UK's tax collecting for them. This has resulted in...

Re: Do you have a favorite time period for C.W. watches
Being a bargain is a bit subjective but the first CW watch I bought was the C6 Kingfisher Forum LE. This was the first diver with a mechanical ETA movement. It cost £255 in 2008. Applying inflation that's £327.69 in today's money. I guess the nearest equivalent today would be the C60 Trident Pro 600...

Re: Do you have a favorite time period for C.W. watches
There is a lot of truth in what Amor Vincit Omnia says. I hark back to the early days. I first came across the brand in 2008 and there was a feeling of stumbling across something new. Like all these things you feel part of a select group who have also discovered this secret, totally unaware of the p...

Re: Strange question, but what watches make ticking sound
I remove may watch at bedtime and place it on a bedside table. This acts as a sound board and I can hear the watch ticking, auto or manual.

Re: This thread is for the teachers...or anyone who wants to comment
Before I retired I was involved in data analysis using large data sets. In the old days it had to been done laboriously using stats analysis using the Midas mechanical machines. Now there are extremely powerful computer programs. New graduates would just input the data and accept the output without ...

I am nor ever have been a schoolteacher but what you say rings true. Although I have spent a career doing applied research in selection and training. Exams have just become a process of stamp collecting. How many can you collect. But it is competitive stamp collecting. Get the most highest value sta...

Lovely watch. Chopard one of the brands I've always known but never really considered. Perhaps I should. 15 years old? Really. Amazing.

New Flyback Chrono
This has just popped into my in-box. I have heard of Frederik Constant watches but never heard of Vintage Watches or their connection to them till now. But, I must say I do like the look of this watch. It has an in-house movement and is limited to 32 pieces. Don't really know much of Frederik Consta...

Re: Pilot watches
I too like pilot watches but don't have quite your range. Like the way you have the different brands and styles covered. Liked Hanhart and Dodane from afar. Nice to see you have one of each in your collection.
