Check here for Rolex AD pricing. ADs only ever sell at RRP, though you can in principle negotiate a discount.

Re: Observations about Problems with CW Products & Services
Servicing is actually considerably more lucrative than you might think. Its also important in establishing the reputation of reliability for a brand, in particular, brands which make their own movement. The increase in the ownership of quality clockwork watches doesn't necessarily equate to an incr...

Re: Trip to the Rolex shop (just looking)
Explorer but neither at full RRP. Good luck with that right now. Because of the fall in value in the GBP, Rolex is significantly cheaper in the UK than anywhere else in the world, from the perspective of a buyer from abroad. As a result, the most popular models in stainless (especially Submariner a...

Check I very nearly bought one of those - I got my old Seiko 5 watch for the first time in a long time (it was an 18th birthday present, sadly that's a while back now!) and realised I do...

Re: How often do you see strangers wearing a CW?
I saw another CW a couple of weeks back, an older gent was wearing a silver dial C9 Harrison GMT at my 4yo's pre-school sports day, he was one of the other kid's grandfathers I guess.
Didn't get to talk to him about it, which is a shame because I think the GMT variant is uncommon by any measure.

Re: The Rolex thing
I have always said I didn't want one, but lately I have also been feeling the gravitational pull towards acquiring a submariner. Went into a AD last week, really didn't care for the experience (he wasn't impressed by my CWL JH either), I would think I would probably go the pre owned route. Have you...

Re: The Rolex thing
My advice is DO IT!! I sold a couple of watches to help fund my BLNR in August last year and haven't looked back. It's absolutely stunning and definitely gives you that special feeling when wearing it. The one downside - you may not stop at one! I'm now saving for a daytona!! http://i1279.photobuck...

Re: Incoming - Breitling Colt Auto
I have a very early Steelfish, when first introduced in 2004 they had a slightly smaller case at 42mm which only lasted one year before being upgraded to 44mm and 2000m water resistance. To echo the earlier comment about Brietling build quality, it's built like a tank, it's taken a real pounding ove...

Wow - 39 is no age at all (same age as me, which brings it home a bit...) Condolences to his family, must be a pretty tough time for them right now.

Re: C11 MSL Mistaken Identity
I've had a couple of nice comments on mine, one from a girl in a coffee shop (though she then asked if it was a Fossil!) and one from someone who thought it was one of the smaller Bell & Ross models.

Ha - pick the right part and you could make a quartz movement that runs (effectively) forever!Amor Vincit Omnia wrote:Perhaps it will have a piece of a Trident missile in it?

Re: How often do you see strangers wearing a CW?
Saw someone in the office a few weeks ago wearing a C60. Wasn't in a position to comment though as it was actually in a fairly crowded lift, and he was talking to another colleague. It's a big building (3000+ people), so no idea who either of them were to chat later.

Re: The New C11 has arrived
Both my C11s had screws in the buckle. I actually have 3 straps (and 2 C11 watches) - I wasn't a fan of the orangey/tan strap, so bought a dark brown PVD one for the vintage. The chrono came with a black strap, and all of which are with screw-effect buckles. There's another difference - the OPs phot...
