Re: CW watches getting smaller and smaller
\It is pretty simple, they make what the people want and they find that out with market research. The fact that they sell very quickly is testament to the fact that the buyers want them. It can be annoying if you like or suit bigger wrists, but there are plenty of watches up to 43mm still available...

Re: CW watches getting smaller and smaller
Everyone has their own views and opinions about watch sizes - I certainly do - and I doubt anyone is going to be moved by anothers viewpoint - if it differs to theirs. There is almost a herd mentality to this. With others telling you what the 'sweet spot' is, their 'sweet spot' that is, as if you ha...

Re: RedBar Global event; CWs on show
But if they have swag I could nab you a baseball cap??  Good to hear that Downer already has a couple. Which means that If you do manage to 'swag' one, put it away, wait a few months, then sell it. There's quite a market for them. They have a number of variations on a theme in limite...

Re: The Do Your Research Theme
I have a couple of views on this. The first is that having done the research, potential buyers might go elsewhere. And secondly, 'do your research' is fairly limp. A sort of tepid progression from being, 'disruptive'. I just feel they need to move on from comparisons and just learn to stand up for b...

Re: New Bel Canto WYRD limited edition
Hmmm, for me, the adage, 'less is more' comes to mind with this dial. As for the black hands, well they look out of place amongst all the silver on display. An aftermarket afterthought, that proves that if legibility is such an issue, more thought needs to be given to the design than simply replacin...

Re: Vintage watch forum recommendations?
Try The Watch Forum, it's for watches in general, but has an active vintage watches section. Some of the guys there undertake amazing research on the most oddball of watches and seem to have catelogues and access to data from the UK and abroad going beyond the start of the last century. I think a 60...

Re: Why all the negativity towards CW?
I've been told by my Chinese colleagues that in China if a brand doesn't have a retail presence it will be very hard to get attention. Is this similar in Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and maybe even in Japan? I'm just curious. I really think that was the point I was getting at, maybe not clear...

Re: Why all the negativity towards CW?
With regards to your last sentence, nor do any other micro’s though. But do you really view CW as being a microbrand? I think they are established mainstream now. Certainly in the UK. I may be the only person that wears one in Thailand. I took one to Vietnam a few weeks ago as well. But they don't ...

Re: Why all the negativity towards CW?
- I doubt that anyone who knows anything about watches would actually think (or state) that a Sealander, whether 3 hander or GMT, looks anything like an Explorer or Explorer 2. Neil Well, with the GMT model, that was my immediate reaction at first sight. I wasn't the only one. You have to be honest...

Re: Next up : Blancpain x Swatch....
I think the blue model looks great and I am interested to see the yellow one in the flesh. Luckily, although I am 3.5 hours away (on not such a good day) from Bangkok, my other half still mainly lives and works there, so I go there all the time in any case. The swatch concession at Siam Paragon in B...

Re: Bel Canto Received and going back
https://youtu.be/VFQntdkrIAM?feature=shared Like this? That video is helpful. The original pic made the watch look pretty drab and one dimensional. My immediate thought was that a darker background is needed as a contrast for the dial design. However, the video does show the way the the light react...

Re: Seven Years of “Loupe”: your thoughts, please?
A few years ago, I made a big effort to get my corres with CW sorted. I used to get Loupe at my 1st Thai address, but so late, that it was all old news. So when I moved, I spoke via email to a young chap somewhere in the CW ofice who couldn't understand why all corres has stopped. Anyway, after a bi...

Re: Future CW classics
I havent read this whole thread. I think talk of a CW classic is fanciful. You don't need to read the whole thread, but certainly the first to get a gauge of what was meant by a 'classic'. As to the notion being fanciful, why? For my money, when you do something a little different, come up with som...

However, I do believe the C11 / Makeira will last the test of time. I regret not buying one when I first saw them and I would happily pick up one now, price permitting, of course.
A proper tool watch. Aesthetics came second.

Re: Favorite novel & why
Too much SF here, definitely not my genre. I am a real Haruki Murakami fan, so some fantasy. I blame Borders. One of their recommended reads, eons ago, was Norwegian Wood. A gentle introduction to his art. Got me hooked anyway. Re-read many, but the Wind Up Bird Chronicle is perhaps No.1. Sometimes....
