Re: New arrival: 9300 Speedmaster ‘57 White/Titanium

Great write up, great watches, as ever. I have the 9300 in the DSOTM and still have my 8500 orange bezel PO! In fact I have just prepared it in readiness for tomorrows day of watch browsing in Bangkok. I also have a silver dial and blue hands/markers 1957 speedy broad arrow, but different to yours. ...

15/21. Fantastic watch. From the concise guide to RLT watches (no longer manufactured): RLT36 "Nautilus": A limited edition of twenty-one pieces featuring an engraved Nautilus motif (designed by Born) applied to the screw-on back of the 200 metre water-resistant, 40mm all steel case, the c...

Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread

Bremont have a new outlet in Bangkok, as I discovered to my delight last Friday. First time I have seen them in the flesh since 2016. Of those I saw, I loved the ionbird, which came as a surprise, as it left me a little cold from afar, upon it's release, but in the flesh, wow! But I still hanker aft...

Re: Watches with non-standard time displays

Bit of an odd thread in the sense that quite a number of those selected here, are standard issue to me, such as regulators. Ulysse Nardin are old hands (excuse pun) of providing something out of the ordinary, including the fantastic Freak and Grand Deck Tourbillon: https://i.postimg.cc/qvPpzV64/Watc...

CW are an Anglo-Swiss company, and as such, are already a part of Swiss horology.

Re: Are CW Too Affordable?

Look at what Certina offer for example, a Swiss company with almost 140yrs of heritage. £1,000 seems to get you quite a lot of watch from them. Certina are owned by the Swatch group, and as such, their pricing and product placement is determined for them, in line with other Swatch brands. On saying...

Re: Are CW Too Affordable?

Now, I know that there are different segments in the so-called luxury watch market, and I know that CW doesn’t have to pay the middle-man, as it were. That makes a difference. There are brands using the same Sellita movements as CW and charging twice as much for the watches. There are brands using ...

I have no favorites. But for YouTube reviewers, I want brevity. Most boor me to tears, even if I am interested in the watch. And cut out the fingermouse impersonations.

Re: Bremont in-house movement?

A bone of contention that for me - how many of those are ‘British Watchmakers’ and how many are ‘British Watch Companies’ that are based here but parts and assembly is all done abroad? I’ll use CW as an example - how they can be classed as a British Watchmaker when they don’t make anything in Brita...

Re: If not watches, what would your weakness be?

Art for me and it is a thing and has been for many years. Primarily modern art linked initially to the loose collection of artists that came to be identified as the St Ives Group from the 50's onwards, through to the many contemporary artists working in the wider geographic area today. And whilst I ...
