Re: If not watches, what would your weakness be?

Art for me and it is a thing and has been for many years. Primarily modern art linked initially to the loose collection of artists that came to be identified as the St Ives Group from the 50's onwards, through to the many contemporary artists working in the wider geographic area today. And whilst I ...

Re: A new survey from CW. This time about the SH21

Yeah, I got one too and completed it as requested. Hard to see how it will help them if they get a mixed bag of replies - for example about which movement finish you prefer. Good advertising though. Sorry, I didn't vote for the annual calendar, or anything dressy. But I did mention something about t...

Re: Tribus Watches

I must admit that I’d heard Tribus referred to as the DFS of watch brands before but hadn’t heard it since the 70% off sales 😂 No, check the forums. As you well know, its CW. I'm not saying it's right, after all, I have taken advantage of them, but any brand can be mocked. Even watch brands can be ...

Re: Tribus Watches

Meanwhile CW appear to have sussed out their market and price points. The new C63 seems to had a great launch and they had a limited edition that sold out in 24 hours. . . Apart from all the sales you mean? Not for nothing are they often referred to as the DFS of watch brands. Easy to pick on any b...

Because they sell.

Re: Same old, Same old from CW?

With a brand like CW developing new product, the risk is all theirs. In fairness, that was/is their choice. It works both ways. I haven't read though the whole thread recently, so apologies if this has already been mentioned. But covid would have had an impact on the availability of supplies and th...

Re: NPD T4 project

1. Remove wordmark 2. simple, classical dials, including matte. There's been enough flaffing about with dials recently. 3. New handset. Something more organic than anything too austere. Perhaps an updated and evolved Mark 2 hand set. 4. Do something to the markers. They have survived through 3 gener...

Re: Same old, Same old from CW?

I struggle sometimes to follow the reasoning on here. CW are not an innovative brand. There is nothing on their recent offerings that can't already be found elsewhere. That applies to most brands these days. What they do well is interpretation and there is nothing wrong with that, but some posters h...

Re: Bremont to open 3 new 'boutiques'...

Edit: a shout for Jacobs, one of the first stores to stock Bremont watches. Well worth a visit. https://jacobsthejewellers.com/ That takes me back. I drove especially to Reading and Jacobs, from further west along the M4, to view Bremont in the flesh. I was smitten and ah, the quality...... But tha...

Re: Ever bought a watch on holiday?

..sold about 3 years ago, as a forum fundraiser for TWF. I also posted this on TWF and someone was asking about exporting an entire collection if you lived abroad. I said there were some expats who might know, thinking of you. kay, thanks for the heads up. I will have a look after finishing here.

Re: Ever bought a watch on holiday?

I bought a Tag FI on a JAL flight from Tokyo to Brisbane in March 2005. I had noticed the watch in the UK and it was about half the UK price, so I couldn't resist. It was battered and bruised and was sold about 3 years ago, as a forum fundraiser for TWF. Someone generously paid about 230 pounds for ...

Re: My Dog Sighs has arrived....

I doubt the company were expecting these to fly off the shelves. Not only is it a very niche market, it was launched at a very difficult time. Not really a comparison, but Bremont's Ronnie Wood 1947 collection, launched in November 2019, still has 21 of 47 watches unsold. Even at nearly 40k a piece,...

Re: Tribus Watches

So that only leaves the middle sector but that's again filled with many well known jeweller type brands, grey market sellers, and alternatively online brands and Kickstarter type operations. Obviously success is possible but not a given. Now CW and Tribus both sell Swiss made watches. Personally I ...
