Re: Last arrival to ring in the New Year: Axia Time

Nice. Elements of Hermès, Pinion and Farer to my eyes.

Re: A Technical Perspective The Difference Between Office GMT And Traveller’s GMT Watches

I used to travel a fair amount internationally, and often thought about getting a GMT, but couldn't decide on which mechanical style. The date window for me is superfluous, and so a 4-hander, with quickset hands, giving you the option of which one you use for local, would be my preference. Overcompl...

Re: anOrdain: a dilemma

A bit harsh. All prices have risen and the fumé process is time-consuming, prone to imperfections (so it needs to be redone), and a skill only known to a very small number of craftsmen worldwide. Had they not had so many acoldaes from the serious watch press, their the demand would be far less. They...

Re: New pinion

Saying 38mm is too small is a bit premature, and depending on the design 38 can be bang on the money. Just look at the new GS Heritage releases or the Nomos Club #NomiesforLife. Or of course the Explorer at 36mm.

Bigger isn’t always better.

Re: Duckworth Prestex - Passed me by.

It's worth adding that if you go direct to Duckworth Neil is likely to reply personally, and probably with a bettered price. I've even had a handwritten card in the post with a message about the dials. And Watches of Switzerland now stock them, so that must be an endorsement of sorts. That said, I'd...

Re: New Club Sport Neomatik 42 Date Blue

Tried on the 40mm Club Onyx Limited Edition today. Very nice it was, but it didn't have the depth of black in the dial I was hoping for, and thought the stock photos conveyed. The bracelet is very comfy, but I preferred how it appears in the stock photos. That said, I haven't ruled it out...

Re: NEW Far Cry Hamilton Watch Revealed

I know it's Titanium but I struggle to think it's worth 1k, when they make excellent Khakis for a lot less. Maybe just me.

Re: MBII Savanna

When I saw it I thought it was one in a new women's range, competing with Breitling's recent coloured releases for women.

Sorry Bremont, this is a dud.

Re: Ocean 39 Premium 904 Now Available..

Not sure it stands out, well apart from the numerals which IMHO look too large.

790 Euros - hmm. Too high to be attractive for a punt when the market is flooded with quality diving watches, with similar specs and priced competatively.

Not for me.

My reaction was immediately "yeuk". Reminds me too much of Seiko Franken watches. But I'm sure it will appeal to many.

Re: 15 Affordable Rolex alternatives

He left the Rolex at base camp. There's a very good investigative article on it somewhere, where Rolex rephrase things to say it was on the Everest expedition, but the photos taken on the climb, and ascent I think, show the Smiths, not the Rolex. As an owner of both, I have no axe to grind. But it i...

Re: 15 Affordable Rolex alternatives

Thanks Steve. Started off well - in particular by correcting the myth that Rolex made it to the summit of Everest - but after that I felt it went a bit flat. He mentioned Smiths, but then incorrectly said "Smiths faded away long ago". One could argue that it's not the same Smiths, but the ...
