Re: NEW Far Cry Hamilton Watch Revealed

I know it's Titanium but I struggle to think it's worth 1k, when they make excellent Khakis for a lot less. Maybe just me.

Re: MBII Savanna

When I saw it I thought it was one in a new women's range, competing with Breitling's recent coloured releases for women.

Sorry Bremont, this is a dud.

Re: Ocean 39 Premium 904 Now Available..

Not sure it stands out, well apart from the numerals which IMHO look too large.

790 Euros - hmm. Too high to be attractive for a punt when the market is flooded with quality diving watches, with similar specs and priced competatively.

Not for me.

My reaction was immediately "yeuk". Reminds me too much of Seiko Franken watches. But I'm sure it will appeal to many.

Re: 15 Affordable Rolex alternatives

He left the Rolex at base camp. There's a very good investigative article on it somewhere, where Rolex rephrase things to say it was on the Everest expedition, but the photos taken on the climb, and ascent I think, show the Smiths, not the Rolex. As an owner of both, I have no axe to grind. But it i...

Re: 15 Affordable Rolex alternatives

Thanks Steve. Started off well - in particular by correcting the myth that Rolex made it to the summit of Everest - but after that I felt it went a bit flat. He mentioned Smiths, but then incorrectly said "Smiths faded away long ago". One could argue that it's not the same Smiths, but the ...

Re: Dial texture by the masters

If it’s any consolation, I’ll probably get the IC too. That was my original plan until they released this. The spectrum of shades of blue it moves between is staggering, from almost electric atol blue to deep ocean dark blue.

Re: Dial texture by the masters

Dont know if its been mentioned in this thread but has anyone pointed to Anordain? I dont think there are too many places you could pick up a hand made enamel dial watch for under 2K or even a fume dial. I think Garrick also have an enamel dial. Seiko do them for a lot less but we are talking about...

Don’t think the thread title is accurate. Certainly not a “sale”. It really is first on the buzzer to buy something, such is the demand.

Elliot Brown - Thoughts (Guy's MREW in the FS section)

Thought it might be worth posting a few quick thoughts on Elliot Brown since they're relevant to Guy's watch since I can't do it in his FS thread. I own a EB MREW and can confirm that they are quite superb. I'd looked at them for a few years before ordering one - my hesitation mostly down to the dim...

Re: Bremont- what’s the appeal?

^^^ it might have changed since I last looked but Bremont don't appear to be part of the Association of British Watch making which is ironic considering their goal of manufacturing everything in Henley. Their new technology and manufacturing centre looks amazing. Not sure it's odd. Would it make a ...

Re: New in today

That's lovely Stef. I thought about their "Old Clock" but wasn't quite sure about whether the dial would be too bling. Seiko have a habit of having stock photos showing matt dials, which in reality nearly blind with shine!

Did you have to haggle hard to get a discount?
