Re: HOW MUCH!!?? (service shock)...
Omega do interventions. Like Stella Artois, their charges are reassuringly expensive, although I suspect not as expensive as Rolex. The London Watch Collector (I've not seen his videos for ages) talked about some of the service costs for his collection from time to time. Rolexes always seemed .to b...

Re: WR testing by CW after repair/service
Maybe I am being paranoid now but after looking at the original receipt after service I am thinking that there may have been some deliberate misdirection here... Re: WR testing by CW after repair/service
Yes I agree. The problem is that CW don't tell you that they don't/can't pressure test to above 30m. It’s a problem if I’m Joe Schmoe average consumer and watch owner operating on assumptions. If I’m a diver whose life potentially depended on the WR of my watch, I’m not making any assumptions. I’m ...

Re: WR testing by CW after repair/service
That explanation makes sense, I guess. I guess it also means that if you were a working diving professional, you’d need to take your watch to a specialist to have it tested to its full depth rating? What? Immediately after getting the makers full service??? I guess I didn’t express myself clearly. ...

Re: WR testing by CW after repair/service
The torque that a caseback is tightened to would be specified at the design stage based on the required water resistance and the design of how it fits into the case and the correctly sized gasket. Assuming each case back is torqued up to the correct value using a calibrated tool then I don’t think ...

Re: WR testing by CW after repair/service
I think people are missing the point. The test for actual water resistance is done in the initial phase of the watch. After that if the components are the same and the seals are the same the water resistance is the same https://youtu.be/2wOsnBd_7-k?si=rL75YqJ9eYRyLstq This video shows what most peo...

Re: WR testing by CW after repair/service
Water resistance testing is an emotive subject as can be clearly seen by this thread. The reality is, unless your watch is ISO certified, my understanding is it’s up to the manufacturers discretion how it is tested. The water resistance rating on non certified watches is a product of the design tha...

Re: WR testing by CW after repair/service
Well, I'm not impressed. Certina and Tissot have both confirmed that pressure test to watch original spec Plus 2 year warranty Plus around a third cheaper servicing costs. What is the point of buying a dive watch from a company that when serviced only provides a year warranty And doesn't test wr abo...

Re: WR testing by CW after repair/service
I had the same thought when I got my C60 Abyss back from service last month. 600m WR, only tested to 300m. I thought about it for a sec then put it out of my mind because it does not matter for me at all as a non-diver. Was that 300m or 30m? Watches with 30m are not recommended to go near water!!! ...
