I usually set my watches to 6 o’clock to set the date to avoid the danger zone.
I do this every time too

Re: Seconds hands – your thoughts?

What do speedy users think about not having hacking seconds? Absolutely not a problem. You can in fact hold the movement by putting a little gentle pressure on the ground, which is actually in the Omega instruction book! My Speedy tends to gain about eight or nine seconds per day, so I tend to set ...

Re: I've Gone To The Dark Side ( My Retirement Watch )

Congratulations. A great looking watch.  Enjoy your retirement. Although a normal Moonwatch is stated as 42mm it is only 40mm across the bezel. Wondering what the Apollo 8 comes in at and also the lug to lug? Neil The stats say.... 44.25mm wide, 12mm thickness and a lug to lug lengt...

Re: I've Gone To The Dark Side ( My Retirement Watch )

Thank you all for your great comments and congratulations.

I retired on July 14th and I'm still finding it strange knowing that I won't be going back to RR, but I'm sure I'll get used to it before to long

Photos really don't do this watch justice, it really is a stunning piece.

Re: I've Gone To The Dark Side ( My Retirement Watch )

Congratulations on your retirement! Great looking Speedmaster, it definitely has wrist presence. Two questions, though. Is the dial finish a representation of the lunar surface? And, Omega 1869? What are the differences between it and the 1861 movements? Congratulations, again, I'm two years away f...

Each 1mm of speedmaster to commemorate each year of service.. ok not the most accurate symbolism on my part but you know what I mean. 😁
I'd never thought of the size that way, thank you for pointing it out

I've Gone To The Dark Side ( My Retirement Watch )

I've been after buying one of these for quite a while now, so, I decided to treat myself to celebrate my retirement after 44 years service at Rolls Royce. My local Omega AD ( Ernest Jones ) managed to get me a brand new and unopened Apollo 8 DSOTM from their head office, according to the assistant i...
