Re: Social media response to the new brand
Edit - I just noticed that CW posted this on facebook yesterday: Thanks for your considered perspective on this, A. There is more to come in due course with regard to justification of the design changes, hopefully these will answer some of your queries. Why on earth should a commercial organisation...

Re: Re-Branding and new models
It just looks wrong to my eyes, and I certainly wouldn't want it on my wrist.watchfiend wrote:Why do you say that, Phillip?
Perhaps sanserif typefaces have been around since the ark, but nobody who was making vintage watches was using them (as least not in the minimalistic manner that CW are).

Re: Removing the back on a Matisse?
Come on Ian, be serious - are you really suggesting that I put my CW watch in the fridge?!
Tried it last night, and the back unscrewed with absolutely no problems. What a fantastic tip - many thanks!

Removing the back on a Matisse?
My wife's Matisse Chronograph needs a new battery. However, I am unable to remove the back. It's a screw-off back, with 6 indentations for a watch opener to connect into. I've tried using a 3-prong Jaxa and a 2-prong opener (with the watch head is held in a watch holder), but no matter how much for...

I was unaware Hans had been banned from TZ-UK... I think the mention was that he was banned from Timezone, not TZ-UK. I won't comment on the moderation policy at Timezone - but it is the only forum that I have ever been banned from, and I have been participating in many different internet discussio...

Re: Is there a direction CWL watches are aiming for?
I think that the problem with CWL trying to go upmarket is that it doesn't work well with their internet-only sales model. There is a certain price point above which people (I mean the general public, rather than the fans on this site) are not going to consider buying a watch that they can't try on...

Re: Am I a bad man ?
You are the reason I wait to place my "FINAL" bid inside 4 seconds. Usually at a significant premium apps like bidnapper can't "catch". Seems to work REALLY well too. Can't see what realistic difference it makes whether your bid is 4 seconds or 7 seconds before the end of the au...

Re: Who is at the top of the watch tree?
I don't know if this means there is any crossover of components. I expect not but it does make you wonder what you're buying with so many producers under the same banner. Equally true of the Swatch Group, who number Breguet, Blancpain, Glashütte Original, Jaquet Droz, Léon Hatot, Omega, Longines, R...

Re: C9 Harrison Jumping Hour
Is that 4 seconds or 4 minutes? If it's seconds, how do you tell (as the Jumping Hour doesn't have seconds indication, does it)? Do you just look for when the hour jumps and compare that against your reference source?Kip wrote:As near as I can tell it was running about +4 per day.

Re: Advice sought re selling watches
Research.Research.Research. Search sales corners on other watch forums eg TZ-UK,Watchuseek,The Watch Forum,PMWF etc etc etc Look at Ebay Look at dealers on the t'internet eg Blowers I agree with all your points, and would add: 1) On eBay, look at what watches have actually sold for (use the Advance...

Re: Advice sought re selling watches
According to someone on another forum who has researched this if the item is over £2500 then the insurance is null and void. That is you get nothing. You don't get the first £2,500 of the value. Don't suppose that you'd have a link to that post? A definitive answer to the "is the first £2,500 ...
