I would cry and swear in German too if someone gave me a surprise like that for my birthday!
She was being a bit misty.

If you count the rehaut, there's 9 lines, that's an essay
I just marked it. The rehaut is repetitive and a mere restatement of a line on the dial. No new ideas expressed.

I suppose if you don't know if a watch is auto or hand wound it's useful information.
In that case why not put "Hand Wound" on the dial as well, if that's what it is?

What interests me more is why and when "Quartz" disappeared from dials.

I bet he had a good night
I should hope so. She should have taken him out and treated him to a fillet steak with a fine claret and oh you didn't mean that did you?

The things they write on watch dials

Apologies if you recognise the theme...we've discussed it before. This is NOT a logo thread. Nor is it a Rolex Bash. It almost came up when we were discussing the text misalignment on the Super Compressor, and again when we were discussing COSC. I don't particularly like wordy dials. This is about t...

Re: Worried I’m getting old!

I’m afraid I’m going to be of no help, Chris, and I shall only muddy the waters. First off, I like gold watches. Always have. But they have to be completely gold, not two-tone, and they need to be small, discreet and preferably vintage. So those two would be completely out. I really can’t explain wh...

It must be me, but I really don't 'get' the whole watch box thing.
Not just you. A smaller box with a nice leather travel case would be much better.

Re: Accuracy checking systems

I guess nobody else uses the pips on BBC radio anymore then? I remember my granddad doing that every day at 1.00! I think my dad set his watch by Big Ben on News at Ten, then set the mantle clock 10 minutes fast so he wouldn't be late for work! I remember getting told off for using the Speaki...

Re: Omega Speedmaster rumour

Digging around a bit, it seems likely that the movement will be the 3861, essentially an updated and beautified (?) version with Master Chronometer certification, hacking seconds and a few other improvements.
