Re: I’ve come to a cross road with CW

You’re not the first and I doubt whether you will be the last. I became disillusioned a few years ago, sold the watches I had and convinced myself that CW would never again produce anything I liked. Unlike you, I found most of the watches too big. I have hit peaks and troughs, but I seem happily set...

^^^ It has given amazing service service all summer, Phil, culminating in two weeks in Greece when it was only off my wrist when I was in the shower!

Time to give it a few weeks off now and wear some other lovely things now that the weather is cooler.

There’s little point in a watch that will blow your socks off if you have huge, hairy, leathery feet and don’t even wear shoes. Stop trying to kid everyone, Mester Froww-Doww.

Re: New 63 running bit fast

It could be. I would have expected a magnetised watch to run faster, but I wouldn’t presume to argue with an app. Though mobile phones are in themselves notorious magnetisers of watches. Another thing to consider is that new movements sometimes take a little time to settle down. Wear it for a couple...

Re: New 63 running bit fast

Does +15 sound like a magnetism issue? No. At the risk of repeating myself it sounds like a SW200 running within manufacturer’s stated specs. They are in the user manual and on the CW website. Try bringing a small compass up to the watch. If the watch moves the needle it is likely to be magnetised....

Thanks, Malcolm. I will lock this one. Nothing wrong with the OP whatsoever, but there is no point in having two threads bowling along on the same topic.

Re: New 63 running bit fast

Good evening and welcome to the forum. Do please go to the Member Introduction section and tell us about yourself. Regarding the watch, +15 is within stated tolerances for the movement (+/-20). If your watch is magnetised any watchmaker should be able to demagnetise it, or you can buy an inexpensive...

Re: Whats coming today?

I’m not an expert on royalty, but I imagine that the case backs were designed and produced before the Queen died. They might become collectors’ items as some of the last things to be produced with her insignia on. In the same way, I would be sure that the Bank of England has been churning out coins ...

Re: Whats coming today?

Regarding the lume, was it not originally developed (the dangerous radium stuff) precisely so that field officers could see the time at night? :-k

Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread

I have the watch already. Just daydreaming about recreating the shot. I’ve only been back from Greece a day and getting Mediterranean withdrawal symptoms. 12 weeks and counting until Christmas in Cyprus!

Re: "Hand distressed" Ombre Dial

The entire concept of a distressed dial is weird to me. I understand wanting patina where patina may normally occur, but unless a crystal is broken there is no earthly way a dial will be marred naturally. I am positive I have wholly missed the point. You are not alone. I have always regarded artifi...
