Re: Flu!

Feel better today. Did some lightweight chores, ironing &c. this morning. Feeling a bit stir crazy so went for a light workout and sauna to iron out a few kinks. Picked up an outrageous ribeye from Tesco’s reduced fridge. Going to have it with chips and a couple of glasses of Merlot. Might help me t...

Re: C1000 Typhoon chronograph question

I have an El Primero which goes the same thing. It’s not a typical quartz tick though, about 1/2 a second beforehand it seems to start to move slightly then spring over exactly on the minute if that makes sense. Iain Pretty much what the 1861 Calibre on the Speedy does. It’s fascinating to watch a ...

Re: C1000 Typhoon chronograph question

I’m no expert but I believe that mechanical chronographs do that. My Speedmaster certainly does, as do other older mechanical chronographs I have owned. The minute counters on quartz chronographs do the same thing.

Re: Flu!

Thanks, Chris. Probably won't stir too far tomorrow either, but might tackle a few lightweight household chores...or not! In addition to all the Medicks' Sovereign Specifics I can recommend: AVO's superdrink: ginger tea bag, freshly squeezed lemon, honey and a good slug of rum. I also made a dash to...

Flu!

Blimey! I’ve had Man Flu enough times, but I can’t remember having had the real thing for many a long year. It’s gruesome. Thankfully I’m officially off work this week because I would’ve been off anyway! Unlike a cold the symptoms come on very suddenly and sure enough it hit me like an e...

Re: C65 Trident Diver Question

You might inadvertently have left it overnight too close to a strong magnet, or maybe your phone or something similar. So many things have magnetic closures these days – it’s a minefield.

Re: C65 Trident Diver Question

Lawrence, if it is indeed magnetised and you live anywhere near a watchmaker or repair outlet, you should be able to get it demagnetised in minutes for coppers.

Re: Beware the "Diderot Effect"

If it’s to do with Diderot’s dressing gown then I suspect it’s more about how the acquisition of, say, an upmarket watch would provoke desires for other objects. If I were a victim I’d probably be looking at my little Toyota rather superciliously, or my very basic freeview TV. But I don’t, because t...
