Are you sure it was definitely him, did he show ID? As you've just given your watch to a complete stranger turning up at your door
(I'm deliberately attempting to be funny here by the way)

Re: Why all the negativity towards CW?
I'm curious, what were your bad experiences? One of my own biggest criticisms is product longevity and parts availability long-term. Although Christopher Ward seems to have taken steps towards improving in that regard. It's still a relatively young brand, and overall I do like the direction CW is h...

Re: Why all the negativity towards CW?
What basically appears to happen on this forum is a very unbalanced view of things. If you must believe all the good things you hear about something, then you also must accept the bad too. There are far more 'fanboys' than there are 'haters' on most forums, so there's nothing to be afraid of, but to...

Re: CW price increases coming April 3rd, 2023
Making the case to buy a CW watch even harder. Competitive market also, CW may hit bumpy waters. They need a serious rebrand if they are pitching themselves at a higher price point. If they want to be Bremont #2 then they need more than just raising prices. I don't think the upcoming price increase...

Re: CW price increases coming April 3rd, 2023
This prompted me to check my account history. In May 21 I bought one of the then new C63 GMT for £695... a quick look at the current lists and they are £850. Even a 5% increase on April 3rd would take that model to around £900. So that's a 30% price rise in less than two years.... (that original pu...

Re: Legal reqt for cookie consent?
You're right Richtel on both counts, this forum does indeed store cookies on my device and the user (e.g. you) must be asked to give consent to allow those cookies. The fines for not doing this are sizeable:

Re: Trusted Seller
I'll be accused of being cynical, but this is far too 'black and white'. I wouldn't get the badge, but have sold and bought a handful of items here over the years - EVERY transaction has been an extremely pleasant experience, with good feedback left/received where appropriate. The opposite of being ...

Re: Exclusive CW Forum Prototype Sale
For a thread that should create much pleasure to all it appears to have far too many angst ridden posts. scooter I completely agree scooter, I certainly felt the full weight of that angst heading in my direction! I simply wanted to voice my feelings on the Mike France way of doing business, but a l...

Re: Exclusive CW Forum Prototype Sale
And whilst everyone debates what is right or wrong with regards to how many each person is ethically allowed to buy (and sell on), Mike France is laughing all the way to the bank!! Having drummed up plenty of free PR here, patronising us by claiming it to be a "Thank You", this is basical...

Re: How far will watch prices drop?
If it's anything like my pension fund, expect around 25%! I wouldn't worry about that unless you're retiring soon. I assume you're being sarcastic? If his pension fund has dropped 25%, it now has to grow 33% to break even to what it was before it dropped. That is very bad news, and very much worth ...

Re: GMT hand alignment allowable tolerance
No point in having a Swiss Made, precision timepiece if it' displays 'ish' time and is within tolerance. GMT = General Maidenhead Time. Clever!! or even... GMT = Got Mike's Tolerance meaning that if a CW watch has a GMT hand, it will display time within Mike France's error tolerance...

Re: GMT hand alignment allowable tolerance
Having the hands aligned is hardly a tolerance issue. They are either aligned or not. It is simply pass or fail. I really is not so black&white. I agree with A1soknowas - it IS black & white. The hands on a watch can only do 1 of 2 things: either point to the right place on the dial, or the...

Re: GMT hand alignment allowable tolerance
I think I go along with the majority of the responses as well. For a device who's only job is to tell the time, and in this case in multiple timezones - for 1 of those timezones to be 5 minutes wrong ALL THE TIME is not acceptable at all. It may well be within their tolerances, but it wouldn't be wi...
