Re: Look what the cat brought in...

Congratulations on a great acquisition Peter. The C3 Mk1 really is a great watch. Mine doesn't get worn enough, but I think I will wear mine tomorrow, breaking my unwritten rule of not wearing 2 watches in a row from the same manufacturer (wearing the Trident 38mm today).

Re: It was nice while it lasted on tz-uk...

Speaking from personal experience, Eddie likes to swing the ban hammer anytime someone either disagrees with him, or calls him out on his hypocrisy. A shame really, as he makes some nice pieces, and I was going to buy a 36mm Everest from Timefactors.

Re: 60|60 Watch Guarantee - Service Requirement

So we now have confirmation from CW that the new watch warranty is 48 months. Will they change 60/60 to 60/48? Doubtful. Will they allow owners to service watches independently (as can be done with cars, everyone's favourite analogy)? Doubtful. So let's run the numbers on this: First 48 months: incl...

Re: The "Sandhurst" from the military collection

There are some styling cues from the W 10, but the dial is wrong, the font of the numbers is wrong, the crown is wrong, and above all the dial doesn't say "Smiths," it says "Christopher Ward." I think the issue here is that you were expecting a W10 homage. That isn't what the Sandhurst is. To quote...

Re: Are import duties still an issue?

Got hit by $48 CAD duties upon ordering a $230 Trident MK3 bracelet :( How do they even calculate it? Sounds like that may have shipped to you via DHL as they take an aggressive brokerage fee then charge you GST and PST on the amount of the bracelet to send to the CRA. Do bracelets incur any duty? ...

Re: 1928 'digital watch'

The Cartier is really quite fantastic. Every time I see it pop up somewhere online I'm drawn to it. Until today though, I've never noticed that it is also a sterile case. No Cartier logo anywhere on the front of the watch.

Re: Introducing the C65 Military Range - Dartmouth / Sandhurst / Cranwell

I think the Sandhurst is a definite winner. I'm not sure if one will make it into my hands, as at that price point (which is very good for a COSC watch), it is competing with more than a few other watches for my attention.

Re: 38mm C60 GMT

CW really needs to sort out these niggling little issues if they want to compete with the big boys. They have just launched a watch that costs more than a Speedmaster but still have website copy that would suggest they are selling $300 Chinese watches. Same can be said of the CS issues as of late. I...

Re: Delayed watch service

I have a very hard time believing that CW would change the dial from a Gen 2 logo to a Gen 1 logo. There is almost zero chance that the OP received the same watch back that he sent in. Very unfortunate.

Re: A Warning About Your Nuts!

My mechanic tightens lug nuts by hand only, and my preferred tire shop uses that as a selling point. If you've been bitten once, you will go out of your way to find a shop that doesn't allow the use of air guns when fitting wheels. My experience wasn't in overtightening a lug nut (although that has ...

Re: Iconostasis - the Watch Wonderwall

I have to agree with the choice of the Swatch. The quartz watch that saved the Swiss mechanical watch industry. My choice for icons are two watches that should be, but probably aren't on any lists, and could be called the great-grandfathers of the two watches posted by ddav.. Two non-Swiss quartz wa...

Re: The new Seiko SKXs

Overall I think this are a solid follow-up to the SKX. Hacking and handwinding movement is an improvement, although at this price Seiko needs to put a little bit of effort into regulating. The advertised spec for the 4R36 of +45 -35 is more than a little bit lazy. I'd also happily give up the exhibi...

Re: Would you buy a plug in electric car?

but with 224hp combined, I imagine it's a decently spirited drive when you want it to be. This is the delusion with electric cars. Use the power for any length of time and the battery will give maybe 5% of the quoted range, not to mention probably overheating. I see Teslas on the autobahn once in a...

Re: Would you buy a plug in electric car?

I have loved the two PHEV's i have owned. The Mitsubishi Outlander was a great family car but expensive for the level of build quality especially the paintwork. I currently have the Mini Countryman and it is brilliant, i have just done 5k miles and have an average of 110mpg. this morning i got 24 m...

Re: more than one of one watch..

I have 2 C6's and a Khaki FIeld as well as Field Chrono. I'm considering selling one of the C6's and the Field Chrono, but I never felt like unnecessary duplication having 2 of the same model in the collection. Each colorway or style is unique, even within the same model.
