Re: What Car do you drive??

Both the wife and I work from home, so we only have the one car. Since we live on the coast in Florida, need something big enough to fit the cats, dog, child (soon to be children) and luggage in if/when a hurricane comes our way.

Re: New purchase - should I buy the bracelet?

I’d say definitely get the bracelet- it’s really well made and the adjustable clasp is brilliantly functional What I would say as a slightly faffing about option (I nearly did this recently)- is to buy a preowned c60 watch on here or eBay with the same size bracelet and then sell the watch with a l...

Re: New purchase - should I buy the bracelet?

Ratchet adjustment gives you a lot of scope. The bracelet on my C65 is just about a perfect fit when the watch and/or my wrist is cold, and the ratchet is fully in. Fully expanded it is still too loose even on the hottest and most humid of days. Normally I have it about one notch out from fully clo...

Re: New purchase - should I buy the bracelet?

The point that tipped me in the other direction is the adjustment; this bracelet is slightly too tight without the half link and slightly too loose with it. Minor annoyance, but I hear the C60 bracelets are more adjustable. Still glad I did what I did, because I think I will like using the hybrid st...

New purchase - should I buy the bracelet?

I bought my first CW since 2009. Bought online on Saturday, “despatched” on Monday, and showed up here in Florida on Wednesday! The C60 Sapphire. Amazingly boxed and presented. Such a beautiful watch. I was surprised my wife approved another watch purchase after she bought me my dream speedy a few w...

Re: Vintage watch of the day (30 years+)

My grandfather bought this new in 1967. It’s the 14k gold filled version. I think omega calibre 564? Can’t remember and don’t want to open the case back. He left it to me when he passed in the 90s. Will go to my children or grandchildren when I’m older.

Re: What once was lost...

Yes, the wife deserves all the credit. She’s too good to me! And she did find a great deal. This one is in excellent condition, and we picked it up for just under $2k while most good examples of this model go for $2400+. Patience and vigilance pays off.

Re: What once was lost...

Well done Alex. I have some vague recollection of when you bought that first one. :) Right! It was a while ago, but I recall me standing at the counter holding this up next to a more standard Speedmaster, and us both looking at this one going “huh, that’s interesting”. Just before you got me into m...

Re: What once was lost...

That’s a really cool reference I’ve not seen before. What are the double hands on the 24hr dial for? The arrow is a 24h hand (tied to the main hand I think, not GMT). The straight hand is the running seconds. OP – a lovely watch and a great story. Now don’t ever get parted from it again! ...

What once was lost...

... Is mine again! I first really got into watches about 11 years ago. I was young, dumb-ish, and relatively penniless. But this Speedmaster really caught my eye. I was familiar with Omega, since my grandfather had left me his 60s Seamaster De Ville. So I treated myself! Not 6 months later, with the...
