Re: Stuff of the seventies

Anyone remember "Clackers". Essentially two solid plastic testicles on a string that you attempted to make collide "over and under" by jiggling them together. Quite often seen hanging from telegraph wires following an over enthusiastic success or in the bin after you returned fro...

Re: Stuff of the seventies

For a watch forum, I'm surprised no-one has yet mentioned the LED watch. In the late 70's (78 or 79) I remember badgering for one as a Christmas present only to be told "if Santa brings you one of those, you wont be getting anything else !".... they were still relatively expensive. Then th...

Security alert on a JET2 flight from Turkey to Manchester. Diverted to Standsted with a complimentary air-to-air missile escort courtesy of the RAF.

Re: Do you stress about being late?

My philosophy is to be on time. I don't want to be late, but I don't want to be unnecessarily early either. The more important the appointment, the more contingency time I will build in to getting there, to counteract any stress that might build up if problems arise. This... always plan to be on ti...

Re: OMEGA X SWATCH HYBRID - THIS WEEK

The profiteers are already selling them on eBay. Those already sold on eBay seem to have gone for between £450 and £1000. Still madness but nothing like the prices suggested in the last few days. Damn.... now I need to increase my bid !! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304410425008?hash=item46e04676b0:g...

Re: The Collection Breaker

Did the Omega break my collection? Has anyone experienced something similar? Totally - but in my case 2 Omegas about 5 years apart, firstly a Planet Ocean, with a Moonwatch putting the final nail in the coffin !! When working I would probably wear three of four different watches a week as a result ...

The Defender is currently 27% off on Amazon at £116 (UK unfortunately). Best price I have seen  .

Re: Brilliant Lego sets

That’s always been the appeal - no matter the nature of a set, it was all compatible. Making my own stuff was always more important to me than the sets. I was actually a bit disappointed as I saw the sets get more complex and specialized. I think that limits creativity. I see both sides of the crea...

Re: Brilliant Lego sets

That's opened a whole new can of worms Jon. I, perhaps naively, didn't realise there were so many alternative builds available. Rather than buy any more, there may be rebuild coming along shortly.

Re: Brilliant Lego sets

I love that land speeder! I had loads of Star Wars sets back in the late 90s/early 2000s when I was a student, and got myself a re-issue of the snow speeder set not too long ago (had a fun build day with my eldest son - he wanted a Minecraft Lego set, but it had to be Star Wars for me!) That was my...

Lockdown started me off with a few simple ones.

As lockdown progressed and lengthened, together with some Black Friday deals, the builds got bigger, then bigger still  .

Re: The most beautiful songs?

I believe Hazel has been very poorly recently :( I gather so... fingers crossed for a safe recovery. Continuing my theme tonight of powerful female vocalists, another name you may have heard of but perhaps not appreciated the breadth of content and quality of vocals (I didn't until a couple of year...

Re: The most beautiful songs?

This one is a combination of a brilliant moody song with one of the best sax solo's (ever)... I always turn the volume up to 11 as the solo kicks in
