Re: Replacement battery
That's the brand I've used over the years, and the one my local jeweller/repair place uses, and I've never had any complaints either.

Re: The Curmudgeons Corner
Just posted this in the gallery section, but probably better here in the curmudgeons section... :silent: Thanks for sharing. The red bezel was the one crying out to me, but this also looks the business. Can you elaborate a little more on the bracelet fitting in the case thing mentioned above please?...

Re: ETA Oh Dear
Praising CW is great, where due, and the warranty is a good one so no arguments here. I'm just not sure why you chose to do it by attacking ETA with second hand stories of 'poor quality' and then when pushed offeried up by way of example a low end movement that isn't even made by them. Now I'm defin...

Re: ETA Oh Dear
Ok, I'll come back with some more questions. The CL888 isn't even an ETA movement, so what is your point here? Is it that because Claro (the Chinese company that manufacture parts for the CL888) work in partnership with a Swiss company that assembles them, then ETA must be doing something similar to...

Re: C8 P7350 Chronometer - 75 piece Limited Edition
I can almost see Harlaxton Manor from where I live D65! It's the University of Evansville if I recall, and I've been inside a few times. It has the most amazing painted ceilings, and of course the buildings themselves are magnificent. I once saw Catherine Zeta Jones pulling out of the gates in a Jag...

Re: ETA Oh Dear
Yes, but it's not all of them is it? To determine the extent of any problem, you'd need to know failures per 1000 units or some such measure and then compare to other manufacturers the same way. All manufacturers have premature failures. Does your watchmaker know for sure the history and age of the ...

Re: ETA Oh Dear
Being an old cynic, what would a watchmaker have to gain by advising somebody to have their ETA movements serviced more frequently?! Hopefully you can see my point, and won't take offence! I think with the sheer volume of ETA movements out there, I guess it's more than likely that a lot of ETA equip...

Black and red you say?!
Well, I've stuck to my plan and sold the Orange one, you've got to be ruthless and disciplined!
I quite like the skeleton versions of the Accutron II watch range too mind, but I think my wallet is safe for now.

Re: Pairing up for paring down
Will you please stop posting pictures of your GMT Master, and that bloomin Zenith chrono whilst you're at it. Do you have no thought for those who are trying to shrink the number of watches they own?! It's a good place your at really isn't it, some fab watches, no rush to do anything and therefore c...

Gaf1958, I hold you responsible!!
This arrived today.
My dilemma now is whether I should sell the Orange one as planned, or keep it. They kind of complement each other.
Why is downsizing a collection so difficult?!

Re: Tissot or Steinhart
I think out if two watches mentioned I'd be going for the Tissot.
It's a more original design and has an interesting 80 hour power reserve movement, in house if you like!

Re: Tooks - May 2015
Thanks Paul and bspj.
I did find it quite difficult to sell some of them, but the overwhelming feeling of 'I've got way too many watches than I'm happy with' was all pervading, and I feel happier now for having gone through the exercise.
