Re: Post a picture from your latest ride

On the old hexhead 1200 GS's it was felt that the system ran a little lean. A 'booster plug' added an additional temperature variant resistance to the temperature sensor in the airbox which supposedly made the electronics think it was a little colder than it was in reality so adding a little more f...

Re: Post a picture from your latest ride

Having owned the Scrambler all of a couple of weeks, the only flaw in the experience has been a tendency for the bike to stall or feel as if it is about to stall - apparently a common issue with many variants of the 1200 engine. Having read about the "booster plug" I decided to give one a try, even ...

Re: Post a picture from your latest ride

First proper ride out on the Scrambler 1200, up to Crosby, Merseyside to have a gander at Another Place , via the Mersey Tunnel. Very happy with this bike... No pictures of the sculptures (forgot) but here's a couple of the bike: https://i.postimg.cc/RhWsmJ0z/IMG-6408-3-LI.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/X...

Re: Post a picture from your latest ride

That does look nice. It's got fun written all over it. Now I've had 4 bikes since 2008 but I reckon you've had 4 in a couple of years. scooter Guilty as charged (it’s actually 5 in 20 months), but as I said to my wife, I’ve just been finding out what I like... Bit like watches then, Richard? ...

Re: Post a picture from your latest ride

That’s incredibly frugal, scooter. I reckon my bikes would need 8 or 9 litres for 100 miles. I did the swap this morning. A couple of quick snaps before rain put a dampener on proceedings... https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200723/235284ad99e7ca7b248e1aa4e5e8813e.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.c...

Re: Eyesight and watches....

I also got my eyes fixed (lens replacement) a few years ago. Best thing I ever did. Prior to that, watch choice was absolutely restricted by legibility issues. Nowadays, it's not a consideration - although I still favour legible watches with strong hands and decent markers. I have found that watches...

Re: Post a picture from your latest ride

Thanks chaps.

@Guy, yes the peak torque figure is available at a relatively low 3950rpm too, which makes up for the relatively modest power output.

By contrast my BMW GS has 136PS and 143NM of torque but the peak torque doesn’t arrive until 6250 rpm.

richtel wrote:^^ That looks fun! Did you consider the R9T Scrambler?
Yes - although only briefly. The shaft drive/boxer was attractive but the ergonomics didn’t suit me very well. The Triumph felt like a great fit for me, and that was a major driver. That and the torque. :)

^^^ Some lovely scenery down your way, scooter.

Today, I did a deal on a lightly used Triumph Scrambler, so the Honda will be departing in a week or two:
