Re: Best of British.....
Wholehearted support from me for Marloe. Nicely-designed and well-finished watches (the Coniston Bluebird is lovely), strong brand, small determined team. Very personal service and look/feel ahead of the curve compared to CW at the same stage. Farer similarly impressive. Ainsdale/Elvington quartz ch...

Re: Best value watch branHds under £500, £1.5k, £3k and £5k?
How would you rate some of the steinhart models in the under £500 category The Ocean One is a solid buy - mine’s a black-red Pepsi GMT, bracelet & case finish excellent. Generally a fan of Steinhart, but some of the new UK brands like Farer and Marloe are doing some really interesting and original ...

Forgot to mention Hamtun in the sub £500 category.
Another UK watch brand start-up with some very solid divers and day/date automatics.

Re: Best value watch brands under £500, £1.5k, £3k and £5k?
Under £500 - Marloe Coniston Under £1.5k - Farer Aldrich/Endeavour/Stanhope/Ainsdale Under £3k - Farer Moritz/Segrave Under £5k - IWC Portofino/anything by Bremont Think the value equation always struggles with watch brands which do high street retail. Hence 3 Out of the 4 categories in mine are onl...

Re: Misery seeking company
An agonising experience. Wonder if Steinhart can supply you with a replacement bezel? Never had that kind of experience with my watches (so far!), but it must be right up there with a minor scratch on an otherwise pristine car: no one else really notices it, but you feel like you’re driving round in...

Re: Steinhart vs CW divers
Well, yes...the interchangeability of the words ‘replica’ and ‘homage’ never cease to amaze me! Guess Rolex must have concluded some time ago that it just makes the real thing that much more desirable. Having said that - and with great respect to those who do - I could just never justify shelling ou...

Took the plunge, via Neil at Chronomaster. as per the comments above, lovely finish, good bracelet and - so far - very good timekeeping.

Re: Steinhart vs CW divers
Thanks for your reply, Johnny.
I already have an Aviation GMT (quality excellent) and a Nav B Chrono II (decent for a sub £1k 7750), but can't quite tell whether the Ocean One cuts the mustard as Steinhart’s photos are overdone studio shots. £400-500 doesn’t sound like much for a mechanical GMT.

Steinhart vs CW divers
After an IWC splurge last year, I’ve now found a few quid down the back of the sofa, so to speak, and am thinking of chucking it at a black/red Steinhart GMT Ocean One via Chronomaster. Mulling over whether the new CW alternatives are better (having steered clear of CW altogether for because of logo...

How many watches in your collection: 16 - my signature watches plus some quartz tat. The most popular brand in your collection and how many: CW, 5 Your current 'best' watch: IWC Portofino (no quips about the movement, please!) Your 'regret' watch that you sold and regretted: Only regret is not sell...

Get your pain in the photo uploads, Paul, but I’m among those who won’t touch Facebook with a bargepole.
I use three different social media apps, but Facebook’s ceaseless demands for info made me bale out years ago.

Re: Bulova moon watch
Just joined the moon watch club. Remarkable deal on Amazon - £279. Incredible value for money at that price and a great piece of wrist real estate.
