Sorry if this appears like I am reviving an old review but as promised I thought I would post a review after a couple of months wear. I am doing this as like most people, first impressions can always change after a month or so and that watch you initially thought was the greatest thing since sliced bread is now collecting dust in a bedside cabinet somewhere.

Well not this one! This has rapidly gone from my "Wear it from time to time when going out" To my daily outside work watch. I can honestly not think of a negative other than the general moan about the strap. I have changed mine to a black pilots one (Picture to follow) And much prefer it on this. The lume on this is fantastic at night with just general wear during the day. Power reserve has also been excellent. I have put the watch down at 11pm and come back the next day after work at 6pm and put it back on no problem. I love the "Vintage" (I am starting to sound like an old git!) Appearence of the watch. The display back is a nice touch and all in all pound for pound this is a watch I cant fault.

My first Christopher Ward C5 Malvern

Do you mind if I ask about the lume?

In your first post you said it was a bit disappointing but here after a month or three your stating the opposite.

Has the lume improved with exposure to sunlight from wear?

I ask because I have a C11 which I find the lume disappointing on compared to my Omega SMP.

The Omega SMP is spectacular with the lume and the only watches I have had that would match it were a Breitling SteelFish and a Seiko Monster. They all light up even if it is just a bit of shade.

However other lumes are not that bad. I read a good response once (but can not find it at the moment) about people complaining about poor lume but when your eyes get accustomed to the light at night the lume seems better I have tested that with a few watches by my bed and it is true.

Yes of course.

Part of the reason I posted an update was because opinions can change with wear. When I first got it I was used to lume on the numbers as well as the hands so to find it only on the hands was an initial disappointment. I wore it about the house and in different light turned off the lights and my first impressions were "Yeah its ok" I have since been wearing it on a daily basis and leaving it on the bedside at night and call it being more used to the lume on the hands only or just more exposure to light during the day but the lume seems pretty good. I can certainly see it.

I cant compare it to an Omega because I have only had a dress Omega before that didnt have any lume. I would imagine it probably comes from more exposure to light due to daily use but I obviously cant be certain on that one. I dont know what your use of the C11 is. I try at least to wear my watches on a rotation in the evening when I come home so they at least get a few hours on the wrist and exposure to light. As I say, my C5 is my daily watch so its out in broad daylight for several hours which may explain why its "improved"

Hope that helps.

First time I've read this review. Glad you're pleased with it. I foolishly sold mine in January during a mid-collection crisis.

I couldn't really fault this model though. When I first got it the shine on the black surrounds on the hands took me aback, but I got used to it. And once I'd got used to the hands, I couldn't think of anything that I didn't like about the watch. It's only a matter of time before I get another.

I liked mine on a light brown aviator strap:
