I had no problem with the knife and in some ways it goes with the pilot watch. I just was surprised to see it.
Same here. Top rate review. Thank you for posting

My only required improvement would be to slightly thicken the hands, to aid visibility.
I agree -- What do you think about putting the thicker C8 Mark II hands on the Mark I as a retrofit? They are the same shape and the same length, just wider. I think I'd like the watch even more. It would void the remaining three years of warranty, and it would no longer be the original design. What do you all think about making the switch?

Do you suppose CW would sell me just the hands? Or I suppose I could pick up a Mark II in a future 'nearly new' sale, switch the hands, and flip the Mark II with a disclaimer about the modified hands.

It is not something I would ever attempt (due mainly to lack of competence..). However, someone has done it, and they sold it on here recently (see here http://www.christopherwardforum.com/vie ... =42&t=4410). Unfortunately, the pics have been deleted.

Personally, I will probably get a Mark II and keep my IPK original. :)

I saw that modified C8 when the pictures were still up. I assumed those were aftermarket hands (non-CW) as the C8 Mark II had not been released yet. I recall they looked a little short, but had the right shape. I think I'll check with CW to see if they'd sell me the hands. Even though it would no longer be original, at least it would still be 100% CW.

There was a post on t'other forum where the OP said he'd emailed Chris directly and asked, he received the new hands a couple of days later F.O.C.

Cool, I'll try that too then. Thanks for the tip Rob!
My eyes & memory must have fooled me on the length of those hands.

This week I inquired with Wera about buying the Mark II hands for the Mark I. Here is her reply:

"C8 Mark II has not yet completed production… so the answer for now is no.
Ask again in september…when stock is duly in, and we can discuss further"

I suppose that the guy who got the C8 hands must have got some early pre-production prototypes. I'll check back later this year.

I for one like both the C8 AND the Benchmade.

When I post a picture later on it might include a knife or even a firearm in the frame, since I havent limited myself to likeing only watches ;) But that is perhaps pushing it to far here on the forum?

I won't complain if you post a knife in a watch photo here.

Knives are a lot like watches and there are KIS (Knife Idiot Savants). Like a watch, you really don't need to carry a knife. Owning just one would be practical, yet the collection grows. You'd have to be crazy to spend over $1000 on a damascus blade knife then mod it with custom G10 scales -- when you can get a perfectly good knife that can perform the same job for $10.

There are even many online knife forums and they all sound exactly the same as watch forums:
  • "Should I buy This or That"
  • "Here is my new purchase - please tell me you like it"
  • "Here is what I would change about this design if I were the designer"
  • "Which knife should I take on holiday?"
  • "My wife is upset with my growing collection"
  • "What are you wearing today?"
  • "State of the collection"
  • "Do you match your knife to your outfit?"
And some crazy folks pre-order a new knife model before it's available and then whine about slips in the release date. Imagine that!
