Re: C9 GMT and Hamilton Jazzmaster GMT side by side
I,m with the majority here the C9 GMT has a much better aesthetic over the Hamilton in my opinion.
Re: C9 GMT and Hamilton Jazzmaster GMT side by side
I have always coveted the Hamilton but after this comparison it has been replaced on my list by the CW.
Re: C9 GMT and Hamilton Jazzmaster GMT side by side
I'm going to have to go with the Ham. Its swatch group, and seems more elegant. I just cannot get into sunburst dials no matter how good they look. I just associate them with cheap/replica watches. sunburst metal dials like on the CWL just never do it for me.
Re: C9 GMT and Hamilton Jazzmaster GMT side by side
My exact thoughts too.paw3001 wrote:I think CW takes it in my opinion, just looks better overall and that date window on the Hamilton is horrendous.
Both good watches though at the end of the day and design preference is very subjective.

I love CW but if you bump up to Jazzmaster Chrono the newer H21 and H31 movements with 60 hour power reserves are awesome pieces of equipment. CWStyle is more lean and unique however in my mind. I like both and own both!

In my opinion, they're both pretty bloody ugly watches and neither float my boat but please don't be offended

Re: C9 GMT and Hamilton Jazzmaster GMT side by side
Interesting but both out of my size range.
Ideally I would have the CW dial in the Hamilton case, though reduced to 40mm (and 20mm lugs). The 22mm lug width is more harmonious in my opinion, whereas the C9 at 20mm suffers the same problem as the C5 on its 18mm strap. The watch just looks too big for the strap. 20mm, as in the C3 Mk1, is just right for the 40mm case I would like to see on the GMT.
Hey, maybe that's one of the reductions that were mentioned?

No offense taken at the comment by reggie747! we all have opinions.
I will say the C9 strap is the greatest thing since sliced bread with the snap on and off leather straps. I bought in black, and got an interchangeable brown. It is so easy to switch out and changes character of watch. Simple but ingenious solution. Wish all watches were that easy to change straps.
Kudos to CW.

I like certain things about the Hamilton but overall it's the CW for me.

As someone who travels A LOT, does anyone actually use their GMT function?

FDS19, you're sort of changing the topic a tad, maybe a good thing for a new thread, so you get more responses?
I use my GMT watch every day, often. I'll admit, it is only used for travel a few times a year - my main use is for knowing what time it is for one of my teams on another continent. For that the dual time watch is ideal.
Perhaps more on topic, this CW GMT wouldn't work for me - I need an adjustable 24 hour scale because my team is in India, and the time zone is off by 30 minutes from a full hour. The rotating bezel can adjust for that. I can't figure out how to adjust fixed bezel GMT watches to account for this (admittedly it may be more a limitation of the 2893-2 movement?). For me the C60 GMT is the right solution.
Last of all, the date window on that Hamilton is not at all to my liking. Is there some sort of story behind why they did that? Or just someone's notion of aesthetics?

Re: C9 GMT and Hamilton Jazzmaster GMT side by side
These are not my preferred style of watches, but if I had to wear one, I'd pick the c9
Re: C9 GMT and Hamilton Jazzmaster GMT side by side
CW wins by design IMO but I would like CW to produce an affordable worldtimer type watch like below (except I would like a revolving 24 hour disc)
