How about View-master? We never had one, but I'd be stuck in Debenhams toy department clicking through all the disks I could find.

Wow. That got me thinking about how much progress between View-Master and scrolling through ten thousand photos on your camera. Then I remembered that my ten thousand photos are mostly watches and a dog! At least with View-Master you got to look at twenty photos of Heidelberg, or twenty photos of deep sea creatures

My brother and I used to take turns sitting on the fold down armrest between the front seats in my grandparents’ Buick! Five years old, sitting on an armrest, no seatbelt at all, and flying down the Long Island Expressway - crazy!

I remember my parents having bridge parties - four couples sitting around two folding card tables playing bridge all night. All the 70s accoutrements were out - the glass chip & dip set with the dip bowl affixed to the chip bowl with a metal stand (and always ruffles chips and sour cream & onion dip!); the plastic snack bowls that said “nuts” and “pretzels” on them; a bar set up in the corner with screen printed highball and lowball glasses with gold rims, and eight drunk adults playing bridge!

It wasn’t until I was an adult that I realized how hammered everyone was…then they all drove home!

I’ve managed to pick up a chip & dip set and the snack bowls. I’ve been begging my parents for years now for their glassware that have and vintage style world map printed on them. My dad still won’t give them up. They’ve got to be close to 50 years old now.

Today is FA cup final day. As a child I remember this day with great fondness, the build up seemed to start early morning and went on right through to the singing of abide with me and eventually kick off.

The cup seems to have lost its magic over the years but my wife has gone out for the day, my daughter is upstairs revising for her A levels so I’ve got the afternoon to myself. I’ve got the iPad on the go in the garden trying to relive my childhood, this time though with beer instead of fluorescent coloured pop, but definitely no driving later…..

And you didn't die.
Honestly when cars were smaller/lighter and there was no seatbelt meant that the risk to the driver was being impaled on the steering column speeds were lower and fewer cars crashed.

Was this the stereoscopic viewer? Still got one in pure bakelite. I grew up with the same slides/discs: New York skyline, the wedding of Prince Rainier to Grace Kelly, Niagara Falls, some other stuff which made no impression.

I always wondered why there were a handful of American toys around the house: it was 2018 before I discovered that my biological dad was from Utah.

 I think it was popular here, but probably a loss of license if caught.

Been replaced with, scrolling through phones whilst driving.

Cheese and pineapple hedgehogs, were a favourite of mine at parties in the 70s.
Which as 3-10 year old I really shouldn't have been in attendance, but as my Mum was a bit of a party Animal, there were lots of those through that decade.
