Great ride out on The Monkey today.

As a matter of interest I have now covered 10735 miles since April 2019 when bought new. I have used a total of 64.85 gallons at a cost of £395.31. The amazing fact is that means I get an average of 166 mpg at a cost of 3.7p per mile.

What a brilliant bike The Monkey is. The smiles per mile are pretty high as well.

The Honda figure is 189 mpg but I'm really not complaining.

This reminds me many years ago a colleague at work commuted on a Honda 90 and was constantly telling all and sundry about his amazing fuel consumption. The fuel filler was under the seat and accessible without a key so myself and another colleague decided to have a bit of fun. Every day we would add a small amount of fuel to his tank and his consumption was becoming more and more unbelievable, but we would be sure to ask for an update daily 🤣.
With the price of fuel nowadays we couldn't afford to do it!

Out for a 30 miler on The Focus electric bike taking me to Alfred's Tower at Stourton.

The bike can be 'seen' in full stealth mode in both photographs.

After my 11 month/11,000 mile Triumph Tiger experiment, it feels great to be back on a GS. Hopefully I learned something!

Here's a picture before it gets too mucky.

That is what is known as a daft question!

Yes, since re-starting biking when I retired (2018), this is the 9th bike. Ridiculous, but there you go. Much like watches, it's tough to find "the one".

If I rode a proper motorcycle it would probably be a GS.

That said I did take a trip to Fowlers this morning and find myself in a bit of a quandary.

Not that I am proposing selling The Monkey.

What's the quandary, scooter?
Does it involve something electric?

@downer

I looked seriously at what was available electrically back in 2019. I wasn't overly impressed with those out there. Until an electric bike can do at least 150 mile range I'm not interested.

My problem is that as I get older I am struggling post hernia operation to lift my leg over a bike. I actually have trouble sometimes getting on a bicycle.

The obvious answer to that is to return to scootering and so I have been looking at new Vespas. My quandary is what would I do with The Monkey as I absolutely love owning and riding it.

If, and it's a big if, I get a Vespa I will definitely be keeping The Monkey.

^^^ I can see a scooter in my own future, and owning both a bike and scooter seems fine to me.

A mate of mine who has a Tiger 1200 has just ordered a Forza ADV 350 for commuting etc, although I think he has to wait several months before he will get it.

Nice, but no Vespa. :)
