Love the matte finish! Is it stainless steel or titanium?

My Seiko does something similar...
Does the dial paint have a micro texture?

Is the inner bezel burgundy, or is what I see a reflected color?

A new skeleton being test-worn (pardon the protective film on the crystal please). Wish I would have done something to the hands to make them stick out more...

Yes, the inner bezel is a polished deep red. It was one of the features that stood out when I found the watch some years agoGreatpotfarm wrote: ↑Sun Apr 09, 2023 5:35 pmIs the inner bezel burgundy, or is what I see a reflected color?

Re: Non CW of the Day
Happy you like it!
No jewelers saw action on the movement his time... It is a stock Seagull ty2809 and the skeletonization was produced by a giant hydraulic press in Hong Kong. It is my first encounter with this movement though... It's quite pleasant to look at and comes from robust stock (I have a lot of experience with this one's smaller brother, the ty2807, and that one is one tough cookie but uglier.)
The main focus for me with this gage were the indexes, and that's where the saw saw action. I had some 1mm thick abalone stock salvaged from a watch bracelet, and I decided to find out how easy it would be to cut and shape the nacre into tiny, equal, faceted pieces. .... Not as easy as I was hoping. After 6 hours of cutting, filing, sanding and polishing I had something I could live with. Far from perfect, but good enough practice that I now know how to work the material competently.
I might be ready to attempt replacing the lume on the hands with paper thin abalone without sanding my fingertips off in the process of making it thin enough
It was a fun gage to build! I only cursed once or twice when half shaped indexes flew out of my tweezers and I had to search for them on the floor...
