Aquitaine hands scratched/blemished?

Post by DavidHRC »

There is a fellow on YouTube that has posted two separate videos saying that the hands on BOTH his Aquitaine models have scratches and other blemishes. The first watch he purchased was from the first batch released and the second one was the all-black GMY, a later release. He generally praises the fit and finish of both watches, but just goes hard negative on the hands. Shows lots of pictures in his videos. Has anyone noticed this on their Aquitaine? Or was he just doubly unlucky? I am considering purchasing one and don't want to be disappointed.

The hands on my Aquitaine white sand GMT are neither scratched or blemished.

It is the favourite of my dozen or so CW watches.

No problems here. You can always return it if it doesn’t meet your standards.

This topic popped up not so long ago about this video, possibly it was on CWE but no one came back with 'oh my hands are also scratched'.
Seems to have been a rare case of it happening to the guy making the video.
Anyway if they are scratched, just send it back for warranty ?

Just been over my bronze aquitaine with a loupe and happy to report not a scratch or blemish in sight.

^^^^ Thanks David.

Having watched the Black dial review, which I really don't want to listen to again, Watch Geek mentions several times 'fabulous watch, bezel & crown action BUT scratched hands visible under macro (not naked eye)'.

He gets towards the end at around 5:34, and mentions the all important that he is reviewing a "pre-production prototype / sample".

Enough said.

Good point, Guy. A few months ago CW shared with Kip and the Admin Team a photo of a prototype Bel Canto. I think it’s fair to say that the finishing was nothing like the standard we are seeing on the production models. I think in some ways they were still trying to work out where to put everything!

There was one forumite who had an Aquitaine GMT with scuffed hands earlier this year, in a production piece:

general-discussion/topic59200.html?hili ... ce%20hands

Probably pretty rare, maybe a bad batch of hands that were placed on a couple Aquitaine GMTs, that CW discovered quickly and rectified? Who knows.
